I received this via mail from a fellow blogger… not the actual letter… the mail, I mean!
The turmoil of the CSA is well known, but I came across these two articles, and they just go to show that the the famous proverb of “When you pay peanuts, you get a monkeys”. In this case, I am sure, the CSA’s internal turmoil hasn’t helped them in their search for a high profile, long term sponsor. Should Investec not be sponsoring the Proteas? – you’d think so, but after a sponsor-less T20 and One Day series, a sponsor in the shape of a local vegetable oil company pops up.

Each year I dread the Rugby Off-season at the end of the year!
We are almost at the end of an arduous, yet much shorter rugby season here in the Southern Hemisphere for 2011.
We can still look forward to the Currie Cup Final, the finals of the two junior groups (Under 21 and Under 19), the Barbarians game on 26 November (if memory serves me well) and a Wallaby / Wales game around the same time.
In addition we have the scraps of the first IRB Sevens Tournament of the new season, in South Africa, to be held in Port Elizabeth in the beginning of December.
… but that is about it…
I have raised this point before , here is a article that supports my view. We have spend many hours debating the time frame of the crouch, pause , engage calls by refs. I have asked many times , what did we gain in safety after all of this? Referees claim that they took control of the scrum engagement but with most penalties or free kicks the teams still opt for ANOTHER scrum.
