While the Blues sunk to their fifth loss at Eden Park this season, the other three New Zealand Conference teams in action recorded strong wins to keep their Super Rugby Final’s Series hopes well and truly alive.

The results means that four kiwi franchises move into the top nine and remain in contention for the knockout stage of the tournament, while elsewhere in the competition the Sharks and Reds continued their upward curve to keep pressure on the top sides in their respective conferences.

Welsh regional team the Ospreys won the final of the RaboDirect Pro12 2011/2012 season, played at RDS Dublin. The match was a highly charged tense affair and the Ospreys hung on defiantly in the end to win by a mere point, after hero Shane Williams, playing in his last game for them, scored two excellent tries.

Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw was the proud man who was able to hoist the Aviva Premiership trophy following Harlequins victory over Leicester in the final not long completed at Twickenham. England captain Robshaw played a big part in the win and was good value for the super try he scored.

A lot has been written, and debated about the Cheetahs progress, or perceived lack thereof. I took a cue from Naka Drotske, who professed his frustration, at losing players to richer overseas clubs. Many people have no idea of the unique challenges that face the Cheetahs. In this article I hope to give an insight and give our detractors a better understanding of the challenges faced by the Cheetahs Super Rugby Franchise.
