Another great McLook(back) article.
When i saw this article i could not resist the temptation to put it up here. I know we are a long way off in deciding the finalists for the Super 14 title. But the Suer 14 game of the year in the South African context might just be the old North vs South rivalry on the 15th of May 2010.
Add to it a possible repeat in the playoffs. Mouth watering prospects
I am sure we are all aware of the rules of how to banter without telling one another we have ugly grannies, so lets rock people and don’t hold back Continue reading
The Southern Kings are making enough noise again to be included in the Super Rugby Competition…. and this time they might have a point, can any South African Team, from anywhere, be as bad as the Lions or maybe even the Cheetahs?
The heading should maybe rather have read “As kakpraat ‘n kolletjie was, was Billy Bush goed gespikkel!”
In line with the Maori speculation and accusations surrounding the 1956 Maori vs Springboks game, here is some more bulldust…

Subtle, yet intense the pressure mounted in the All Black camp. Winston McCarthy – a former New Zealand rugby commentator- forced the pressure right into the AB camp with his weekly newspaper report, published in New Zealand; his information was that were dissatisfaction in the AB camp with coach Ivan Vodanovich. The players “Were getting on top of their coach” he wrote in classical New-Zealand cut-down-the-tall-poppy style.
Wellington – A New Zealand Maori rugby team was instructed by a government minister to throw a game against South Africa in 1956 to prevent All Blacks sides from being banned from touring the country, a former player has said. Continue reading

Once again the Northern Hemisphere has taken the initiative and proposed a possible match up of the Heineken Cup winners versus the Super 14 winners.
In an article in today’s Australian, Wayne Smith reports that there is an English proposal to stage the long-proposed “battle of the hemispheres”, the Super 14 champions against the Heineken Cup winners, is likely to be considered by SANZAR.
We moved over the halfway mark of the 2010 Super 14 season. Sadly the injury toll affects certain teams severely. This thread deals with the casualties the various teams have. I am sure this list is not complete but add the ones i missed and we will update it.

International rugby is really squaring up to a North vs. South battle between the hemispheres, as to who gets to harvest the financial returns or not.
The next 5 years will be particularly challenging for the SANZAR countries in spite of them occupying the top three slots of the IRB international rankings, with little financial returns.

The Sharks will probably have to do without the services of Johann Muller for their final tour match against the wellington Hurricanes.Although it has not been confirmed if he would be fit to play or not, One cannot seem him playing with what seems to be a broken finger.
Here is a picture of Johann Muller’s hand sporting a broken finger for his troubles and having had to spend the night in Hospital, less than ideal!Just boarded flight to Wellington, last week! http://yfrog.com/iyjzsj 2:24 PM Mar 20th via Tweetie ( thanks to John Smits snippets on Twitter).
