The best players in the Super 14 came through stronger in this test against Wales in Cardiff. Form and understanding made the local players outshine the European contingent. The players who made the difference for South Africa was , Victor Matfield, Dewald Potgieter, Danie Roussouw, Ruan Pienaar John Smit and Juan de Jongh.

The FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International will expand its

involvement in South African university rugby, with the creation of a new second tier competition from 2011 onwards.

As a result, five ‘B-Section’ universities will compete against each other in a double round competition starting next year, called the Varsity Shield – a decision that was officially ratified at the special general meeting of the Varsity Cup (Pty) Ltd in Sandton on Friday.

We wanted a good proper North vs South battle for years. Well we have it. Next Saturday we have The Stormers visiting the Bulls new “Home” in Orlando to challenge the Champions and try to become the second South African team to lift the Super 14 trophy.

My Rating of the Players. This might just be the exact two teams taking each other on in Soweto. Although Gerhard vd Heever will most probably replace Jaco vd Westhuizen at wing.

Stormers 25 / Waratahs 6 (Full Time)

The Stormers hosted the Waratahs in the 2nd of the 2 semi-finals of the Super 14 this year, at Newlands, Cape Town, South Africa, at 19:10. This is the match thread for discussion of the game. The game was broadcast live on SuperSport 1 on DSTV in SA.

Just like the Bulls, the Stormers won this encounter with consumate ease, by 25 / 6.

This now sets the Stormers and the Bulls up for an epic Final at Orlando Stadium, Soweto, next Saturday.
