Met Uysh

I do part time blogging on Sport24.com. I was invited by superBul. I support the Stormers in the Super 14.

A bit better for me this weekend in terms of the SuperBru picks. Got 4/6 right, with the Sharks and the Stormers (second week in a row!) letting my picks down, although I am extremely happy for getting the Stormers pick wrong! If this is going to be the trend, picking the Stormers game wrong time and again, I will pick them to lose every game from now on!

No really. It sucks. I thought the WP jersey look terrible with that yellow blob on it, but this?!  Now let’s see, first the Stormers had this jersey: Continue reading

Wow! I don’t know what game some of the reporters were watching, but I thought it was an excellent rugby match and classic Test match stuff! Hard, bruising tackles, rock solid defenses, no one giving an inch, and men dying for their inches…well amost. Continue reading

People might think we are making a huge fuss about this Springbok “doping” scandal but I guess they do not see the implications of it for us, as sports lovers, and moreso the impact it has on our already tainted reputation as world leaders in Rugby. For me its a major embarassment, especially to think that our whole team may have been exposed. Continue reading

I understand there are certain sensitive user’s on this forum, I have therefore censored my original image but feel free to view the uncensored version on http://blogs.sport24.co.za/uysh/i-shaved-my-balls-for-this

Balls…that’s what we want! SARU has failed to show any by just allowing things to deteriorate in the Springbok camp. The ANC fails to show any to shut the trap of that idiotic Julius Malema. Afriforum tries their best to dangle theirs around in public, only to be kicked in it by the likes of Andre Venter. Oregan Hoskins failed to show any when their sponsor told them they are too slow on transformation in the Currie Cup, so he jumped on the Union bosses and told them to get the numbers up. I tried, I really really tried…

But I can’t do it anymore.

I said that, if De Villiers really believes nothing is wrong with the way we are playing and that we do not need to get someone in to help out (even after trying to source Jacques Nienaber from WP) and that the structures are in place, so there is no need for another person, I cannot and will not try and defend him anymore. The Wallabies have been warned that disrespecting the All Blacks’ haka could result in a fine from the International Rugby Board.

The ARU was recently forced to pay a £1000 ($1677) fine to Rugby World Cup Limited after the Wallaroos, Australia’s women’s rugby team, advanced on the Black Ferns mid-haka before their World Cup pool match in England last month.

I know the rugby experts are going to take issue with me on this one…but bear with me and just consider something for one second.

I know everyone says John is not a tighthead prop. But damn, we did some good work when both John and Bismarck was on the park together!

Reports are rife this morning that some contracted players are revolting against their conditioning programme and that certain agreements reached between them and SARU is being breached. Continue reading

There has, since 2008, been comments over and over again that Peter took a world champion side and screwed it up, because he could not maintain and improve on that team’s performance. In 2008 we had a poor tri nations following the World Cup victory, but in 2009 we white washed the All Blacks, beat Australia twice and we beat the British and Irish Lions.

We need to look at the World Champion side in perspective. Were they really as good as we thought they were, being the World Champions? Continue reading

We have read a lot and discussed a lot that our players are overplayed. The Tim Noakes’ and the Neels Liebel’s and other scientists all have their opinions and we have recently learned that the ideal is for a player to play no more than 1400 to 1600 minutes of Rugby per year.

I am of the view that these minutes are dependant on whether you are a backline, looseforward or tight forward player and also on your age and your proneness to injury. Guys like Bismarck get injured often, and its probably a challenge to even get him up to the 1600 minute mark! Continue reading

Last night I watched the semi finals of the IRB Womens Rugby World Cup between France and New Zealand, and England and Australia. New Zealand totally outplayed France and England beat Australia in a typical low scoring Northern hemisphere type of match. Watching these games last night I was terribly disappointed in the lack of eye candy on display. I mean, one would expect a world class event to at least show some semblance of quality, but really, these Rugby games were so error ridden and clumsy, I could not enjoy it. It was frustrating to say the least!

I do not get why women want to play Rugby in any event. Rugby is a collision sport and women are not genetically designed for this type of game. Well, unless you are a Mamma Nonu with breast implants, with nipples harder than nails pointing through your breast pads! Either that girl was on a testosterone high or she was very pleased to be playing the game! Either way, the sheer physical nature of the game is not fitting for women, not to even speak about the type of embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions which may occur. White is just not a fitting colour for a women’s rugby jersey!
