Veteran Blues lock Hayden Triggs will front up to a SANZAR disciplinary hearing, after he received a Red Card for punching during his team’s Super Rugby loss to the Stormers.
Triggs stands accused of having contravened Law 10.4 (a): Punching or striking.
It follows an incident that occurred in the 24th minute of the match between the DHL Stormers and Blues at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday.
The case is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR duty judicial officer Robert Stelzner.
All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a duty judicial officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.
For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
The incident is shown in the LEFT TOP THIRD corner… in the sunlight strip, in this video clip.
Clear punching, he will rest a few weeks, I think!
Premeditated move to take Vermeulen out…..they probably thought it would be worth having a player off for 10 minutes with a yellow if they can moer Thor off the field. The shock on his face when it backfired and he received red was priceless though
@ grootblousmile:
Thx man.
Blatante vuilspel gewees.
3 @ Pietman:
Snaaks, so gedog toe ek die clip sien!
Two punches no doubt.
Definitely a Red Card.
But at a rough guess,
I’m picking Duane got something he asked for.
More kiwi thuggery.
@ gunther:
Well cunther,
Nortie seems to agree with you………………………….”Premeditated move to take Vermeulen out…..”.
I on the other hand,
have a more balanced and wholesome view of humanity.
And do believe, Duane was most likely wacked in retaliation.
I see he’s been suspended for 1 week.
I think that’s fair, since he has already made his team play with 14 men for most of 1 match, most definitely contributing to the loss.
Duanne seemed ok, but it could have broken a jaw or something like that, especially with Duanne being such a valuable player to not just the Stormers but SA Rugby.
They forgot we breed them tough here!
Kiwi tactics.
Briggs will be hoping he never plays against Duane again.
@ shooter:
I am sure Triggs learnt his lesson and wont let himself be provoked again 😀
Baaaad behaviour. Disgusting
That’s 3 kiwi punching episodes in one week.
A little too much jungle juice in their pro nutro?
Maybe they’re using sheep jism as a masking agent.
