Willie le Roux

Willie le Roux

Springbok Willie le Roux will be able to write his own salary cheque after next year’s World Cup.

According to media reports French giants Toulouse head an impressive list of clubs interested in the 25-year-old’s services.

English Premiership outfit Saracens and ‘several’ Japanese teams have put Le Roux on their wish list.

Le Roux is contracted to the Cheetahs until November next year and will be in the transfer market for the 2015 / 2016 season.

The 25-times capped Bok was one of the nominees for the 2014 IRB Player of the Year.

He has played 25 Tests for the Springboks since making his debut against Italy in Durban in June 2013.

Four of those were on the right wing and two off the bench, the rest at fullback.

Stade Toulousain have clearly joined other big spending French clubs in dipping into the Southern Hemisphere talent pool – with Racing Metro snatching up All Black legend Dan Carter, Toulon securing the services of Ma’a Nonu and Bordeaux-Begles signing Wallaby Adam Ashley-Cooper.

However, with Japanese and English clubs also after Le Roux’s services, the Bok back will be able to command one of the biggest salaries in the market.
