Steve Walsh

Steve Walsh

While Springboks fans will be relieved to see the back of French referee Romain Poite, Steve Walsh lies in wait at Twickenham next Saturday…

Poite raised the ire of several Bok fans during Saturday’s 29-15 defeat to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, although it must be said, the Boks were the masters of their own demise.

Australian Walsh will handle matters in Saturday’s Test against an England side which went down 24-21 to the All Blacks.

Walsh will be assisted by France’s Jérôme Garcès and New Zealander Nick Briant, while Eric Gauzins of France will be the TMO.

The Boks’ remaining Tests – against Italy and Wales – will be refereed by Garcès and John Lacey of Ireland, respectively.

Kick-off at Twickenham on Saturday is at 16:30 SA Time (14:30 BST & GMT).

Steve Walsh will become the referee with the most Springbok Tests behind his name when he takes charge of their clash against England at Twickenham on Saturday.

New Zealand-born Walsh will take charge of a Springbok Test for the 18th time on Saturday, surpassing Ireland’s Alain Rolland.

The Boks have an impressive record with Walsh as referee, winning 13 of the Tests he’s taken charge of, losing only once and sharing the spoils on three occasions.

The only losing Test with Walsh in charge was against England at Twickenham in 2006 (23-21), which was the last time England beat the Springboks.

On Saturday, Walsh will be assisted by France’s Jérôme Garcès and New Zealander Nick Briant, while Eric Gauzins of France will be the Television Match Official (TMO).

The Boks’ remaining Tests – against Italy and Wales – will be refereed by Garcès and John Lacey of Ireland, respectively.

Which Walsh will show up? The pompous, limelight seeking Walsh, or the Walsh that can actually ref a very good game when in the mood? At least we will have SH interpretations, so any funny NH interpretations will be penalised.

I guess Hondo (with his conspiracy theories) will be able to provide you with more details 😉

The Poms have more to ‘offer’ than Wales or the Argies 😆

Have you ever watched the face of a ref when they dish out a yellow or red card. A picture tells a thousand words they say.
Oscar is lucky he was not judged by a rugby ref.
    That look of power.
The satisfaction in controlling the balance of a game.
It seems that they live for that moment
