No overseas-based players will be available for the Boks’ end of year Test against Wales at the Millennium Stadium.
The Springboks’ end-of-year tour itinerary includes Tests against Ireland in Dublin (8 November), England in London (15 November), Italy in Padova (22 November) and Wales in Cardiff (29 November).
“The match against Wales falls outside the IRB Test window so our overseas-based players will not be available for that match, which will provide a good test for our depth in South Africa and I’m excited to see what a number of our younger players can do in the Millennium Stadium,” said Meyer.

That rules out the likes of Francois Louw, Morne Steyn, JP Pietersen, Fourie du Preez, Bryan Habana, Schalk Burger, Bakkies Botha, Gurthro Steenkamp, Ruan Pienaar.
The 36-man touring squad for will be announced on Sunday, 26 October (the day after the Currie Cup final) and they will get together in Johannesburg for a pre-departure camp on Wednesday, 29 October before leaving for Dublin on Saturday, 1 November.
Meanwhile, the 20 Springboks currently contracted by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) will take part in a training camp in Stellenbosch from 20 – 24 October as preparation for the tour next month.
The decision to invite the contracted players to the camp was taken in agreement with the provinces. This was done in line with a request from SARU to the provinces regarding the use of nationally contracted players in the Currie Cup.
The 20 contracted Springboks:
Willem Alberts (loose forward), Marcell Coetzee (loose forward), Damian de Allende (centre/wing), Jean de Villiers (centre), Bismarck du Plessis (hooker), Jannie du Plessis (prop), JJ Engelbrecht (centre/wing), Eben Etzebeth (lock), Cornal Hendricks (wing), Francois Hougaard (scrumhalf), Siya Kolisi (loose forward), Patrick Lambie (flyhalf/fullback), Willie le Roux (fullback/wing), Victor Matfield (lock), Tendai Mtawarira (prop), Coenie Oosthuizen (prop), Jan Serfontein (centre), Adriaan Strauss (hooker), Flip van der Merwe (lock) and Duane Vermeulen (No 8).
59 @ nortie:
Not only did I get both the RC games wrong, the faarking CC teams also transpired to plot against me and I managed a whole 1 / 4.
If I don’t get the wooden spoon in this year’s CC Superbru, I think I’ll start supporting the Taffy Bastids as homage to mediocrity.
61 @ Scrumdown:
Lol, ek het so ver uit die bus uit geval dat hulle nie eers gevra het vir my kaartjie nie.
Bulls losing at Loftus, then winning in Bloem two weeks ago and the Lions losing last week.
One wrong game equals one missed GSP, they add up big time
OK manne. I’m now heading South. Back to the land of the Red and White. (Valke or Lions?)
Oh and while I mention the Valke, well done to them for beating the Leopards in Potch on Friday.
Rudi Joubert doing some good things in Kempton.
AND, Andre Pretorious, enjoy the retirement.
Not the way you would have liked to bow out I’m sure, but despite what others may say, you can be proud of what you achieved on the Rugby field.
Glad you are staying in the structures and getting into coaching.
@ Scrumdown:
Man I really felt for the Leopards, they were unlucky not to play Premier division this year… and then that loss, the Valke were excellent, someone needs to get that little flyhalf.

Crikey that little Argie beaut made Rasta Ras Dumisame look like farking Pavarotti.
No Aussies have looked that uncomfortable since their forefathers were sent down in the first place.
😆

Hehehe
From the NZ herald, ratings for the last test
8 Duane Vermeulen:
Curious selection as the official man of the match considering he was unsighted in the first spell. gutsy effort to play with a rib injury
Rating 5.5
Richie McCaw:
Yet another great display from the timeless warrior. Would have been a higher rating had he not turned down shots at goal in the second spell
Rating: 8
Francois Hougaard:
Offers a dynamic edge when he runs from the base of the ruck. Tenacious. Nice try too
Rating: 6
Aaron Smith:
Still has a snappy pass and looked to snipe around the fringes once or twice but didnt stand out as he has in the past
Rating:6.5
Jan Serfontein:
Was targeted in defence by the All Blacks. Did win a turnover.
Rating 5!
and the best for last
Marcel Coetzee:
Tested the ref’s ability to blow his whistle. Another confrontational type
Rating: 5
even Kerian Read was better than Duane apparently
Didn’t get his offload game going, but was sound. Worked hard all game and must be in pain after one nasty collision in the first spell.
Rating 7
@ MacroBlouBul:
that is the problem in noo zulland……
they have a problem looking out of both eyes.
i read in the herald that the penalty against kaino was “questionable” wtf only a possible yellow card was in question.
@ Charo:
Yep Schalk slipped and fell into Liams shoulder 😆
70 @ Charo:
Funny thing, this bias from supporters whose teams wear black or predominantly black, hey!
2014 is the first year since 2005 the boks went unbeaten at home, first time since 2004 that we have won all our home games.
@ grootblousmile:
What bias GBS?
Have I badmouthed Meyer?
Or are you a little sensitive about him?

On yer bike, we beat them last time we played them why do they belong above us
Jonathan Sexton, Sean O’ Brian, Donnacha Ryan, Cian Healy – these are all good Irish players that are injured and miss facing the Springboks, Sexton bust his jaw more than a month ago so not sure if he is definetely out and Cian Healy injured hamstring about a week ago so don’t know the latest on that but the other two are long term casualties. No Leo Cullen and O’Driscoll as they retired so should be a much weaker team to face the Boks than the one that nearly beat the All Blacks last autumn
