Golden Lions head coach Johan Ackermann has opted for consistency in naming his side to play the EP Kings in a Currie Cup Premier division match this weekend
Ackermann has made just one enforced change in the run on 15, where youngster Jaco vd Walt starts at Fly Half in place of injured Springbok Marnitz Boshoff.
On the bench Ackermann has included Sevens Bok Kwagga Smith who, if he gets onto the field will make his Currie Cup debut.

Xerox Golden Lions head coach Johan Ackermann has named his 22-man outfit, that will go head-to-head with the Eastern Province Kings at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Replacements: 16 Armand van der Merwe, 17 Jacques van Rooyen, 18 Willie Britz, 19 Warwick Tecklenburg, 20 Guy Cronje, 21 Kwagga Smith, 22 Howard Mnisi.
Expect the ouens from the Baai to be competetive for around 50 min’s thereafter the impact of the Lions’ bench coupled with the game’s expected high tempo should blow the Kings away.
Lions by a few less than they beat the Bulls by.
I am monitoring this Lions franchise closely in preparation for next Super Rugby season. They were much better than expected and i am impressed with the coach, the players and the style of play. Players in particular I am watching will be Franco Mostert, Jaco Kriel, Stokkies Hanekom and Ruan Combrinck.
I hope they keep up their dominant scrum through to next year and surprise more teams. I might even put a few bets on.
@ Labuschagne:
That’s what I like to hear. I also agree with Scrumdown’s assessment of how the game will go. Expect another 5 log points for the Lions.
I like this Lion side and enjoy the way they play.
I do think Boshoff’s injury might be costly against the sterner opposition
@ nortierd: Jaco van der Walt could make the step up and be the find of the season. I liked what I saw of him when he replaced Boshoff. He kicked most of his kicks at posts. His distribution was also pretty good.
