Contraversial ending to the game. 2 dodgy calls by the TMO.

What can I say? Except hard luck Lions – it could’ve been different.

  • 182

    @ kaksioek:

yer I remember you screaming that when we played Ireland, give the Ab’s another kick as it’s in the rules

  • 183

    Lions were cheated πŸ‘Ώ

  • 184

Boshoff has been such a poor kicker lately, from being in the picture for the boks the last few weeks he shouldnt even be mentioned.

  • 185

    Tell us again about why it was fine for Cruden to get two shots at maintaining last year’s 100 percent record, Kiwis. πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Lions were robbed in the penalty stakes early on and towards the end of the game they were clearly robbed twice by the TMO first and then by the referee not ordering a re-kick at the conversion afer the Landers jumped the gun on the charge.

This is soo blatant and obvious, fellas.

No matter what any New Zealand supporter says, this does not make these decisions right, fair, just or honourable!

  • 187

Hard luck Lions. Great come back in the 2nd half.

Two kak decisions in the space of 2 minutes at the end, by the TMO first (not awarding te try) and then the ref (not allowing the retake of the conversion), robbed the Lions here.

    @ NZINCHINA:
Exactly, pal – I thought it was bullshit then too. But you created the precedent. You people cheat so much you will never see it – I know. If it looks like a Kiwi player may have gone out while scoring a try – no problem, don’t show that angle and award it. A South African scores a try? Show all the angles and say it’s inconclusive – even if it’s clear as day! Carry on regardless πŸ˜† What a joke.

Pity for the Lions especially with them outscoring the Highlanders 4 tries to 3, but to be honest if you are going to be 23 points to nothing down at half time then it is a huge mountain to climb, they should have started better.

Told you so last week, what is wrong with Marnitz all of a sudden?

You don’t know our Joubert, Jonker, Peyper or Shawn Valdsman πŸ™‚
    what goes around comes around?

    182 @ NZINCHINA:
Fark, are you seriously condoning and advocating cheating?

    Fark me blind!

  • 193

    191 @ Hondo:
    It is just all wrong!

What happened to honour and integrity and standing up for what is right, fair, just?

  • 194

Elton should have been allowed to take that kick again.

  • 195

    Over to the Saaaks thread!

  • 196

    @ grootblousmile:
They have a very different outlook. The commentators always commend players who get away with cheating. Very different to ours.

    Piet,
Look no further than at the coach who dropped Boshoff while he was the SR’s score leader

    @ Bullscot:
You have a point there but I’d rather give them credit for the way they came back in the 2nd half. The Lions teams of the past would’ve lost the game by 50+ points after going trailing by 23-0 in the at half time.

    @ kaksioek:

    lol of course you did

what about moving the spot to the RH touch line?

    Lions mugged… !!

The pad around the post clearly moved back towards the lower left corner (looking at it from the front)… and would only do so because of the pressure of the Lion’s player pressing the ball against the pad… And we saw it was on the ground… so against the ground and the pad is a try… and Elton would have converted from right in front…

Also Elton should have been given a second kick because of the opposition starting their run early… Are refs not required to know such a sic rugby rules…?

    Extremely bad reffing all round…

And before any NZ bloggers cry… πŸ˜‰ I’m not saying extremely bad New Zealand reffing… just very bad reffing in this game… much like in many other games by refs of all nationalities… in all 3 countries…

    Fact remains… Lion’s victims of daylight robbery…

Great fightback from them deserved the win…

    @ grootblousmile:

Where did I say that, I was just commenting how Kaksiok was screaming for the Ab’s to get another kick as it was in the rules when we played Ireland last year. There have been some shocking calls this year with a large percentage in Africa under your refs.

    such basic rugby rules

Well done to the Highlanders for holding on.
Well done to the Lions for never giving up, and fighting until the final whistle. They turned a boring game, into a Greek tragedy.
    .
    .
    Now for the controversies:
Was the NO-TRY against the padding of the post a TRY?
    No, IMHO.
No clean footage showed the ball in contact with the ground and the padding. As for Kaks assertion that the padding could be seen to clearly move/buckle, well that could have been the defenders arms between the ball and the padding. And there were plenty of hands and arms down there.
    Good Decision
    .
    .
As for the Highlanders charging the conversion.
Well clearly as we all saw in Dublin last year. The Lions kicker (Jantjies), should have been awarded another suck of the savoloy.
    Bad decision.

You get some, you loss some.

    204 @ cane:
    Good and honest assesment.

Only managed to watch the game on Sunday, so was done so without emotion.

The ball against the cushion decision was probably correct based on the evidence, and yes, Jantjies should have had another shot at goal.

BTW, I’m not sure many in SA would know what a savoloy is.
