Kurtley Beale is adamant that he did not deliberately knock down a pass from Stefan Terblanche to Ryan Kankowski which prevented the Sharks from scoring what might have been a match-winning try against the Waratahs.
Well, I suppose if you can believe this you might just as well believe in fairies, Santa and the Tooth Mouse….
Beale got his hand to the ball as the Sharks were attacking with an overlap and trailing 25-21 with three minutes to go.
Referee Paul Marks sent Beale to the sin-bin for deliberately knocking the ball down and ignored pleas from Sharks’ players to award a penalty try even though the Sharks were not in the Waratahs 25 yet.
“I just saw it was two-on-one and tried to go for the intercept and hit the ball up,” Beale told The Daily Telegraph of the moment that saw him sent to the sin-bin for the first time in his career.
“I was a little anxious and frustrated, but the boys dug deep and hopefully we can learn from that,” said Beale.
Beale’s emotions turned to excitement and relief at full-time.
“If I hadn’t hit the ball up, it was going to be a try and it would have been a totally different story,” he said.
That cost me valuable points in superbru 😥
Well, what did you expect him to say: “Yes, I did it deliberately, I am a dirty cheat of a player”?
Ofcourse not! He did what we all would do, win the game for your team, take you punishment while claiming innocence.

If there is one thing I hate is when people try and insult my intelligence.. Any fool could see he knocked the ball down, why do you think he had a huge grin on his face when he left the field, because he know he got away with murder. Why does he not rather shut his pie hole instead of coming and talking a whole lot of horse crap, but karma is a bitch, this will come back to the Waratahs.
7 – Winston, He knew exactly what he had done and with that smile, was a smile of relief he never gave away the penalty try, also knowing he got away with it and saved his team. Not good this kinda thing happening. Need better reffing that will stop it.
Look,if the Sharks did it then we would probably have a different tune to it but the point is dont blatently talk crap then expect us to believe it..
9 – Winston, we have this same ref as on the line this week and the SAME TMO!!!!!!!!!!! 🙄 Don’t they have enough refs in OZ? Think that TMO got it very wrong. Had plenty time to replay and should have seen the ball was not grounded and not grounded over the try line even.
We also have a novice ref again this week. A reserve panel ref from NZ. Now I really thought they would only start using the reserve panel refs only if the merit refs chosen was not doing their job. Well maybe the merit refs only after week 5 may not be doing a good job. So I wont expect much from this ref either.
Personally for me there are only two good refs in the S14. Kaplan and Mark Lawrence.
meant = after 5 weeks.
Yeah Puma, something smells real off with this whole situation..
12 – Winston, Do hope on our return to SA we can have some of the top SA refs to ref our last games. Or even better in NZ next week when we play Landers and Canes.
Brumbies are well rested, they had a bye last week. This is going to be a very tough game. Really don’t see us winning this one, then hope they surprise the lot of us.
Go Sharks.
