Jaco Taute has been named at fullback for the DHL Stormers’ first home game of the 2014 Vodacom Super Rugby season.
The DHL Stormers will host the Hurricanes at DHL Newlands on Friday (kick-off 19:10), with Taute joining the starting line-up at fullback and Gio Aplon shifting across to the wing.

Damian de Allende will move from the wing to partner skipper Jean de Villiers in the Stormers midfield, the latter shifting to the No.13 jersey and Michael van der Spuy dropping out of the matchday squad altogether.
The rest of the team is unchanged from the line-up that went down 10-34 to the Lions last Saturday, as head coach Allister Coetzee looks to maintain consistency in selection.
“I’ve learnt from this competition that you take nothing for granted, it is never easy,” said Coetzee, “you have to take your opportunities.
“The Hurricanes have four All Blacks in the backline, that is where their strength is,” added the Stormers boss on www.iamastormer.com.
“We have to make sure we come up with a good performance. The Hurricanes, over the years, have never been scared to run the ball. That is their strength – as well as creating opportunities, with their ability to off-load – and will make it challenging for our defence.”
Tickets for Friday can be purchased online at TicketPros, or from selected PostNet and Spar outlets/stores.
Patrons are also reminded of the stadium rules for DHL Newlands ahead of the new season.

I think the gameplan vs the hurricanes is simple. the bulls did it last year and the sharks did it this year… kick the ball in their quarter of the field and let them run at you, they are like cannon fodder. There is no way the stormers can lose this weekend unless they also try to run from inside their own half.

Gena, I am not judging the Stromers on last week alone, we are going back some seasons when we speak about this group of players and coaches.
They have been playing this team and this game plan for as long as AC has taken over from Rassie. We have lost some good players in the interim, but haven’t replaced them or recruited equally good players. The better youngsters are poached and we are stuck with those that the other teams obviously deem not good enough to poach.
Last week was one of those days where the mistakes were just compounded, but the same mistakes have been made the last few seasons, we just hid it better and lost with smaller margins. Try scoring from anything else but line out mauls are scarce, backline flair and attack is non existent, forwards playing first receiver as soon as we have good quick ball, we can go on and on, yet we see this, the opposition sees this, but our coaches and players think we have the blueprint for success?

Although the Canes are not one of the better NZ teams, the Sharks could afford to play poor and still win, the Stormers play poor and get 34 points put past them by what is essentially a CC side.
Huge difference, and the Canes will also have one game under the belt this weekend. The major difference is that they will at least attempt to score tries and would manage a couple, and from what we know, a couple of scores against a team that doesn’t know how to score can ultimately be the difference.
You guys don’t have any worries until you run into the Saders, Chiefs or Waratahs, until then you can cruise in 2nd gear and still win comfortably
I think you guys need to be patient with Demetri, he is what will be best for the Stormers to win games.
Agree on Demetri.
GIVE EM HELL STORMERS.
Agree with Stormersboy.Stormers pack very good but not sure about Elstadt at lock.Tiaan for Fourie
will improve line out thowing.Fourie at loose forward is sensational but must curb his temper.
