StormersGio AplonThe Stormers could lose another frontline player with wing / fullback Gio Aplon linked with a move to France.

Sport24

The 31-year-old Aplon is likely to move to French Top 14 side Grenoble.

Should Aplon leave the Capetonians, he will be the latest in a long line of top players to leave the team in recent seasons.

The likes of Bryan Habana (France), Andries Bekker (Japan), Dewaldt Duvenage (France), Gerhard van den Heever (Ireland) and Jaque Fourie (Japan) are a few key players to seek employment elsewhere in recent times, while flank Schalk Burger is also linked with a move to Japanese side, Suntory Sungoliath.

Aplon is the kind of player who makes me think of the phrase – size doesn’t matter. Always seemed to have a good attitude, and give his all. All the best to him if he does indeed go.

I really admire him vs england two years ago. I thought he was awesome. but since then I dont think he has really grown. last year he had a terrible superrugby in my opinion, and seems to he a player that really shines in the currie cup. All the best to him if he goes.

    @ MacroBull:
It’s just my opinion, but I think he got the hint that he’s not in the immediate or long term SBok plans, so that may have effected his attitude. Like I said – just my opinion on what could be going on with him.

    @ GoBokkeAndIreland:
I think there would he a lot of factors in his decision to go.

With the enooouuurmous deal the top 14 have. more players will go even if they have to play in the second league rugby in france.

    @ MacroBull:
Yeah, I agree. This could also be his “retirement” plan.
