Good news as injury concerns lessen at the Bulls. Dewalt Potgieter is ready, so too Danie Rossouw and Pierre Spies.
Media Release from the Bulls
Pierre Spies, who left the field in the Brumbies game due knock on the knee, should be fit to play against the Waratahs, but will only train with the team on Friday, Strauss said.
“He actually injured a muscle behind the knee, which was good news, at we feared for some structural damage to the knee. We expect him to be fit.”
Strauss confirmed that Dewald Potgieter will be available for selection after recovering from the knee strain that prevent participation in the tournament thus far.
“Danie Rossouw also trained with the team today. He will be on light duty during the week, but is expected to play,” he said. Rossouw pulled out of the Brumbies clash after a neck spasm.
Jaco Pretorius is still out due to a quad strain and will not be considered for selection, Strauss confirmed.
Now they must somehow clear Matfield or give him a suspended sentence.
Maybe even a Honoris Crux for saving his mates life.
If Dewalt is ready then he must play in Spies’s place at 8-man. Give Spies a good rest, take no chances.
Put Danie Roussouw on the bench. Make sure he is fully recovered before playing a full game. And I anyway want to see more of Flip vd Merwe.
There is still one change I would make to the Bulls backline….
Stephan Dippenaar at No 13 has not worked, neither has the injured Jaco Pretorius…. so, time to re-think this situation.
Are we not wasting Jacques-Louis Potgieter on the bench? Has’nt he proven over time that apart from Flyhalf, he could be used as centre? I say stick J-L Potgieter into the No 12 possie, move Wynand Meisiekind one out to No 13…. and Bob’s your Auntie!
Should this not work during a match scenario, move Wynand back to 12… and bring back Jaco Pretorius / Dippenaar…. no disruption caused!
