Nick MallettCurrie Cup winner Doppies Le Grange has been named in the SA Barbarians 22-man squad for their match against Saracens in London next week.

The squad is selected primarily from players that are based in Europe and the team has a handful of high profile names.

England Sevens rugby sensation Matt Turner will be playing in the side after he takes part in the last round of the Sevens World Series this weekend in London.

Former Cheetahs, Bulls and Sharks utility back Jacques-Louis Potgieter has also been selected. The journeyman has been playing rugby in Bayonne in France since the beginning of the European season in 2012.

Other former Super Rugby players are the likes Le Grange, Ethienne Reyneker, Bees Roux. Le Grange and Roux are both now plying their trade in Italy with Treviso whereas Reyneke is playing for Irish province, Connacht.

Gerrit-Jan van Velze is another promising youngster who made his way north after representing Bulls twice at Super Rugby level. He is playing his rugby at Franklin’s Gardens with the Northampton Saints.

There are also a few players who have been involved in the South Africa Under-20 set up. The likes of Vainon Willis, Shaun Malton and Nic Schonert have all been involved in the Junior World Championships.

The Barbarians side will be coached by former Springbok mentor Nick Mallett.
