Cheetahs and Bok pivot Johan Goosen’s knee operation to repair damage to his knee ligament was a success, and he was present at the Cheetahs training session on Monday.
Even though Goosen may be ready to play at the end of the Currie Cup season, backline coach Hawies Fourie is of the opinion, that it would be more beneficial for Goosen to only return to action in 2014. This will give him the benefit of a full recovery, and a proper conditioning period.
Some sanity from the Cheetahs at last.
@ Loosehead:
Agreed. It’s going to be a good match on Saturday vs. the Sharks. Cheetahs need to play to their strengths, and not kick as much, as they did against the Bulls.
With Brüssow, Lappies, vd Walt and Viljoen, they have the players to play the momentum game, with quick attacks off forward ball.
Sharks backline is in dissarray, and they have only beast and du toit as real ball carriers.
A win will set the Cheetahs up nicely with a game against the Kings and the long awaited bye, propelling us to the top of the SA conference.
Go Cheeeeeeeeetahs
So who is going to be the pivot for SA? Lambie is not a pivot and was never the Sharks pivot. We are screwed till 2014
Catrakilis is the form SA pivot sofar. Playing with maturity and confidence. Steyn was out of sorts vs the Cheetahs, Goosen injured. lambie has become more boring than Steyn of late. Jantjies sold down the river as well.
Steyn is shit, Lamby is Steyn mk2, Jankies is shit.
Katkillers is all that is left AND in good form.
Bulls: Jurgen Visser, Akona Ndungane, JJ Engelbrecht, Jan Serfontein, Lionel Mapoe, Morne Steyn, Jano Vermaak, Pierre Spies (c), Dewald Potgieter, Deon Stegmann, Juandre Kruger, Flip van der Merwe, Frik Kirsten, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Morne Mellett.
Reserves: Callie Visagie, Werner Kruger, Paul Willemse, Arno Botha, Rudy Paige, Louis Fouche, Bjorn Basson
Hope he will have had enough time to recover properly, and will be injury free for a decent length of time. On form and with some game time he can be devastating.
To all the Jantjies naysayers out there: Remember his dad died a couple of months ago. Most 21 year olds will take time to come to terms with such a heavy loss. Also, in the game plan, he has just become a passer of the ball. He has been disempowered to make decisions. And we expect him to still play like he did last year? Unfortunately he is like many inland players who move to Cape Town and find that their game takes a dive. Even his body language when he plays tells me he is not happy in CT.
@ Loosehead:
We can always use the 9 or a flanker like we did in 2000 with Erasmus or like with FdP. But who?
@ Lion4ever:
Jantjies got exposed by Meisiekind and then by a fat overweight Steyn. Last year when Butch James replaced him Lions defense looked 10 times better and actually beat the Sharks. THen Mitchell got fired for that it. Happy or not he can’t tackle and his a hole in the midfield everytime. Meisiekind and a fat Steyn exposed him.
