Promising Junior Springbok and Sharks Under 21 tighthead prop, Nick Schonert was advised by Springbok Jannie du Plessis to get as much game time as possible at tighthead, in order to develop his potential. This influenced his decision to move to Bloemfontein, and join the Shimlas. The fact that Kwazulu Natal only have a side in the Varsity Shield probably added impetus to his decision to move.

Shimlas will have a formidable front row. With Schalk van der Merwe having gained valuable experience playing Currie Cup and Super Rugby, and with Schonert also gaining similar exposure. Charl Marais is also in the squad.
Maybe the Boks don’t rate Os as a scrum guru, but the young props are flooding to Bloemfontein to blossom under Os’ mentorship.
One moved our way?

Indeed Loskoppie, them pilfering sneaky sardine boys let one slip for a change. Interesting that so many young props, want to be tutored by Os. Caylib said so, and now Schonert. Or are they scoring some brownie points.
