DHL Stormers coach Allister Coetzee wore a broad smile on his face after the second day of training at the squad’s High Performance Centre base in Bellville on Tuesday.

The Absa Currie Cup-winning coach and the rest of his coaching staff welcomed back their players to the HPC on Monday after a three-week break over the Festive Season.

However, all the players followed individual fitness programmes during the off-season and the coach was delighted with the results.

“I was satisfied with all the players – all of whom returned in great shape,” said Coetzee on Tuesday.

“We did a lot of fitness during November and December and the guys went away and stuck to their programmes over the holiday season.

“This week we will be continuing with a conditioning phase, with a rugby element to it, but next week on our pre-season camp in Hermanus our focus will be solely rugby specific.”

Coetzee will announce the squad for the Hermanus camp on Friday as well as confirming the team’s two pre-season friendlies which take place early next month.

The coach concluded: “It’s always great getting away as a squad and we’re looking forward to our trip to Hermanus.”
