Okay back to the rugby. Just had a look at the SR fixture for next year. Feel for the Kings actually. Not sure if they are ready. See they have to play: Sharks, Chiefs and Crusaders one week after the other. That will be tough for them I think. Like no let up and after the Chiefs they have to travel to NZ to play the Saders. Tough, though schedule for them.
Also a hard start for Stormers to play Bulls and Sharks way at the start. Then Sharks had to do that this year. Still a hard start for them.
146 @ Sharks_forever:
Eish broer, jou moer!
Hahaha
way = away
151 @ Puma:
Wat, hoe… hoekom?
So, as ons wil skinder van Puma… dan praat ons Afrikaans… reg so?
149 @ grootblousmile:
You lost me there boeta. Understood the first part. Look if you do all your business with mostly Afrikaans speakers all very well, but I can tell you, if you have to do business abroad that will change pronto, it is English all the way. So yes, to a degree you need Afrikaans here, but it is not totally necessary to speak it, well not these days like it was say 30 years back.
154 @ grootblousmile:
😛
156: Puma, as jy in Afrika is moet jy Afrika-ans kan praat. 😉
151: Gelukkig begin die Kings met ‘n maklike game, so dit sal hul help.
@ grootblousmile:
😆
Player for player, we have a far stronger side than the Aussies. We have one of, if not the best opening partnerships, and without a doubt the best bowling attack in the world. Yes, JP is a huge set back, but how is it possible to find ourselves in such a position of possibly losing a ‘four’ day test match when we were 372/3 at one stage in the first innings. It is simply implausible. The pitch didn’t break up as it is want to do at the Gabba in the 4/5 day, and whilst the Aussie bowling attack certainly had their tails up in the second innings, it was by no means a McGrath and Co. We have a real problem with our mindset in this country. A REAL problem. I agree with Sharky that we are arrogant, but that is just part of it. The Aussies were arrogant in the last decade, but, still with the best team in the world, managed to push every other test team aside in their quest for Glory. No, it is more than arrogance.
It seems that even the ‘kop’ doctors are perplexed. We really are chokers, and it is time to embrace that tag. Once we’ve done that, and admitted to ourselves that we are fallible, then perhaps we can start building on the mental aspects of the game.
Apart from the opening day, and the first few over of our bowling, the rest of the match was pathetic. Thank heavens it was played in the middle of the night, and I missed most of it, or I doubt I’d have a telly left to watch.
Come on Proteas, you are the best team in the world, now go out and prove it.
156 @ Puma:
The Afrikaans market is strong up here, with plenty money, maybe not so much in Joburg itself… but the whole East Rand, Pretoria, Mpumalanga, the old Transvaal platteland, the Free State, the Northern Cape, the smaller towns in the Western Cape, the whole Karoo…. West Coast… all Afrikaans.
So basically, what I’m saying is since 1994, the Afrikaans Nation has stood up and have become proud of their Heritage and Taal… the Afrikaans Music Industry is blooming, country wide there are Afrikaans Festivals.
… and I can do business unhindered… serving Afrikaans and English alike, because I’m bilingual….
I don’t have to and quite frankly mostly don’t want to business with overseas clients, that’s not my niche market, I’m an African… an Afrikaans one!
158 @ bdb:
Or Zulu….hehehe. Here we speak English and Zulu. Though my Zulu is even more poor than my Afrikaans.
Yes, the Kings do have a easy game to start, then is it easy? Not sure, after that they have 3 very tough games one after the other. Gonna be tough for sure for them. I know Lions have been the Sharks bogey team this year, but I will miss having the Lions in the SR. Will be strange for a big city like Joburg not to have a SR team.

160 @ Just For Kicks:
We showed in England that we are NOT chokers. We really should be beating these Aussies. Have no clue how we had such a big lead at one stage to be bowled out for 450. Then again remember Amla was batting beautiful and in the zone, then given out unfairly, he should have still been there batting. He was most definitely not out and also losing JP was a big loss. I am with Sharky after we lost Duminy somehow we lost focus it seems.
Agree, we are better than we showed in this test and hoping we go on to win the test series.
Also somehow if we are the underdogs we truly come out fighting like no other country can, we go in as the number one team we do somehow don’t have that fighter mentaltity. Time to head out there as the number one team and play like that.
164 @ Puma: If we allow Duminy and a poor dismissal to cloud our thinking at this level of cricket, then I think it strengthens my point even further. We don’t believe we can win, even though, with those two factors we are still streets ahead of them, our mental edge is not there, the killer instinct is non existent, and we choke. We are chokers, and we need to embrace that fact. Once that is done, we will be able to build that mental edge that the likes of the Aussies have, I think the words ‘choke’, and ‘belief’ are very close in the SA dressing room, and right now we don’t believe in either of them.
165 @ Just For Kicks:
Yeah.. that Killer Instinct is missing… but not only in Cricket, our rugby sides are exactly the same!
When ahead in stead of really nailing the opposition, we tend to defend a lead.
