Three players in Naka Drotske’s 2013 Super Rugby wider training group, have been selected to play 7’s rugby with Paul Treu’s Blitzbokke. Robert Ebersohn, Kevin Luiters, and Hansi Graaff will be available for the Dubai, and Port Elizabeth legs of the IRB Sevens Tournament.
Last year Robert Ebersohn also played 7’s as part of a loan agreement with the Blitzbokke. Hansie Graaff continues his rise up the ranks, after impressing at flyhalf for the Griffons in the 1st Division of the Currie Cup. Paul Treu has an eye for promising players, and he has had his eye on Graaff since last year. Apparently the Kings are also interested in the young flyhalf’s services. He can add another option to the Cheetahs flyhalf options. Luiters is a very attacking scrumhalf. It will be great development for the two youngsters.
Hi Cheetah I’ve seen before you rate Hansie Graaff so it will be interesting to ‘follow’ his progress can only be a good thing for SA rugby to have another good flyhalf option. Never heard of Kevin Luiters so thanks for putting his name on my radar. As you say playing international 7s surely must be a good thing for these players in helping their skill levels and will also be good in keeping up their fitness levels. Only thing I guess of concern for your Cheetahs is with all the rugby played this season and that due next year is that maybe this would have been a good time for Rob Ebersohn to have a wee rest.
Yo Bully,
I actually haven’t seen much of him, I mentioned him in one of my articles, because Treu was making a fuss over him, and there was lots of positive vibes from his coaches regarding his playmaking and general flyhalf play.
I am keen to see more.
