The silly season is truly upon us, with players moving like pieces on a chess board. Promising young Bulls tighthead prop, Rossouw de Klerk will join the Toyota Free State Cheetahs for 2 years, at the end of the current Currie Cup competition. The loss of de Klerk is likely to be offset, by the Bulls signing of young Marcel van der Merwe. Apparently Rayno Gerber was also attempting to get onto the the Cheetahs player list. Naka has signed Ross Geldenhuys, and Pieter Stemmet, to cover the departure of WP Nel, but they have been signed fr the CC only thus far.
In further news from the land of the flying Cheetah, Boom Prinsloo has been ruled out with a shoulder injury. This leaves Naka with only 4 fit loose forwards, for the weekends clash with the Bulls in Bloemfontein, on Friday night. Heinrich Brüssow (knee), Phillip van der Walt (foot), and Juan Smith (heel), still out injured. Thus Naka can select from Davon Raubenheimer, Lappies Labuschagné, Kabamba Floors and Frans Viljoen.

When called into the senior ranks as a junior prop De Klerk responded so well, he can boast a Currie Cup and Super Rugby medal already. He will push for a starting place in 2012, after playing almost exclusively off the bench in Super Rugby last season. A mobile player with great technique and aptitude for his position, De Klerk has a long and distinguished career ahead of him at this level.
We are losing a good one it seems.
Rallepele siting on the bench cost him his foothold in the Bulls team and opened the door to Willie.
Player of the Week – Willie Wepener
13 August 2012
It does not happen that often, but on Friday night the three most incisive line-breaks in the Absa Currie Cup between the Vodacom Blue Bulls and GWK Griquas came from one player. To top this, this player was a hooker and not an outside back and those great runs by Willie Wepener has earned him Player of the Week status.
Those metres came courtesy of running great lines, but Wepener also excelled in other areas of the field. His aggressive play in the loose was complimented by good work in the line-outs and scrums and some bone crunching tackles against his former teammates.
Wepener suffered some misfortune earlier in the season when a virus attacked his facial nerves, but he has now recovered and it clearly enjoying his time back on the field.

1 @ Superbul,
But if reports are true that Marcel van der Merwe is set to sign for the Bulls, I would say, the Bulls got the better deal. That young van der Merwe is a beast, and could well be a better player than Coenie going forward imo

The thing about the Bulls contracting every available quality player is that they will start to piss their current players off. I rate this oke. He is a good signing for the VRYSTAAAAT!
[maybe he will help us not lose to the fukken Lions next time.]
3 @ Cheetah4eva:Naah, he had his arse handed to him Brok Harris style by the Lions Loosehead on Saturday.
Mooi jou ‘biscuits en biltong Weskus-klong’, maak vir Leon, Leonard en al die De Klerks op CFG trots ou klong!
Oom Pietman hou jou lankal dop…..
RT’s, luister nou mooi, hier kom ons nuwe Tommie Laubscher – dieselfde dorp, dieselfde skool, dieselfde alles, behalwe Rossouw is baie vinniger, hy is soos daai ander Bolander en eertydse legende van Moorreesburg, Chris Koch – krag EN spoed!
6 @ Loosehead,
I know he got shoved around, but how much of that was due to the combinations selected behind him. Before the Lions game he was doing ok. He is only 21, and can grow. But I cede to your better judgement, and experience in matters of the dak arts lol
Ross Geldenhuys?
