  Presentations:

  Brendon McCullum: “South Africa put us under pressure and to their credit, they held their nerve. We just weren’t good enough at the end there, we faltered. The bowlers bounced back after an off-game last time out and most of our batting was pretty good. The last four or five overs, we didn’t get enough singles and it wasn’t our smartest finish to the game. Disappointing to not be able to give the folk of Canterbury the tribute we wanted to. I thought Jesse was outstanding for the majority of the innings, they slowed the pace to him in the last few overs and on his day he would normally finish that off.”

  AB de Villiers: “Amazing team effort, really proud of the men, we hung on at the end there. Really tough batting first and assessing what was a good total, we lost momentum in the middle overs, unfortunately we had a slow start with ball in hand but I told the guys to hang in there. I truly believe Marchant has got it, he has big match temperament, I think the whole team has that and we managed to get a few wickets to turn things around. We do feel very good about the win, but we want to play a certain standard of cricket and we still need to do that more consistently.”

  Johan Botha is the Man of the Match: “It was a bit short straight but I thought I was in with a chance, if you can hit a good length you’re in with a chance as guys just look to hit straight. These small boundaries are very interesting, good balls do go for six in New Zealand but you just have to hope you can get it right.”

  Michael Cabral sums up the South African feedbacks flying in (apart from the C word, of course): “Great coverage! Sitting in the office screaming at my computer hasn’t left me in good standing with the boss, though! Thought SA had duffed it with the no-ball in the the dying seconds of the game, but can’t believe NZ let us come back like that. It seems the pressure is getting to them…”

  @ Loosehead:Rynhardt Elstadt failed a late fitness test, which is why Etzebeth is in, and Habana is retained at 13 after JdeJ’s injury.

  Well there is no more to say, bar bring on the match, and lets see how they pack down. The time for talking is over now, and it is at the end of the weekend when we will see how all the teams have fared, and when the real debates begin! Go Stormers!

Miskien moet hy Bloemfontein toe trek, sodat hy saam di Bok stutte van die Toekoms kan sak. Coenie, Marcel, en selfs Nyakane lol

  Nee, ek glo nie enige Etzebeth was al innie binneland nie! Daai ouens is alombekend daar in Epping se wereld….kan jou baie legendariese stories vertel, ek het saam met hulle opgegroei daar in die Kaapse Noordelike voorstede toe die Kaap nog Kaap was, wille manne broer, wille manne!
  Eben se oom Cliffie het onlangs die Golden Oldies wereldkampioenskap vir stoei in Switserland in die swaargewigafdeling gewen….en hy is al n perd van innie 60.

  My oupa was ‘n rofstoei man, hy was lank SA kampioen gewees, en Jan Wilkens, het destyds in sy gymnasium in Bloem geoefen voor hy wêreld bekend geword het. My oorlede oupa was Nic van Schalkwyk, van Bloemfontein gewees. kyk hy was ook ‘n man wat kon klap lol

  Ons het blogger gehad op Voldy destyds, ook n Vrystaatondersteuner(‘TheHef’).
  Sy oupa was Bull Hefer,en hy het altyd baie stoeistories met ons gedeel. ‘Mr X’,die gemaskerde ou, was n Natalse voorryman. Lukas van Biljon en Jaco van Schalkwyk(N.OVS en Lions, is beide Springbokstoeiers),ek dink Doppies le Grange ook.
  Clifford Etzebeth was WP-slot(soms voorry),so dis n groot dag vir die Etzebeths met Eben wat nou in sy oom se voetspore volg.

  I have a DVD of the 1993 Super 10 final, Currie Cup Final, MTN Night Series Final and Lion Cup final if you want to spend a nice quiet Friday watching quality Rugby in front of the TV tomorrow.

  Alternatively, if something more modern is to your tast I have the story of the 2011 Currie Cup. A bit boring though in that the team at the top of the log NEVER changed.
