Sorry, 1 line in the top table does not want to work properly…
20 / Turnovers Conceded / 21
21
France have probably shaded that opening quarter but the Boks are finding their feet. Boks coming back into now as Burger breaks and it looks on here. Fourie is tackled and and it comes to Smit who erm…cross-kicks for Pietersen but it goes dead. Yes you did read that correctly!
22
Traille is now off for blood -plenty of that about tonight!. Scrum to France on their own 22. It goes down and it’s a scrum turnover – and goes to Boks. Good hit that! Pieter de Villiers’ magic clearly worked.
23
Here come the Boks then. Burger first, and then Fourie but it’s been turned over and then again as du Plessis ploughs forward. It’s going through the phases and Steyn drops……that’s over as well.
24 3 – 6
Well worked that by SA. From the scrum they worked the field and then took the points. France eventually get the ball of a scrappy re-start but then cough it up and Heymans picks it up while his foot is over the dead-ball line. Scrum all the way back upfield. Trinh-duc looks like he’s picked up a bad knock.
25
He’s bounced back up and the scrum goes down again. Bok ball – centre field.
26
Steyn kicks it long and Traille sprints it back but us taken down by Pietersen. Brussow works his magic turns it over and it’s toed through. Foot-race between Habana and Clerc but as he dives it trickles out. Close that.
27
TRY! From the lineout Servat commits rugby suicide and overthrows. Straight over the back and into the arms of John Smit who mows down Dupuy and crashes over.
28 3 – 13
Steyn converts and after France’s early dominance the World Champions appear to have taken a grip on this game. 3-13.
Extracts from the live commentary by Scrum.com of the Test. If one reads it i find that the Bokke was in it , dont understand all the doom and gloom by us. Yes we lost but they had to work very hard for their win.
Halftime comments.
Has that lived up to it’s billing thus far? I think so. Plenty of needle and both side’s are getting rushed when they have the ball making it quite open. There’s a fair bit of kicking but that’s to be expected really. Just watching a replay of John Smit – absolutely awful throw by Servat and Dupuy had absolutely no chance. Clerc’s try was superb. Mermoz involved twice and his quick hands created the overlap before Trinh-Duc puts Clerc through. Steyn’s card was probably deserved although very subtle but even if it perhaps didn’t deserve a card then a late hit from Bismarck du Plessis earlier on Heymans that went unpunished certainly warranted something!
58
Picamoles off the back and Heymans kicks straight into touch after the ball is passed back into the 22. Pietersen tries to take it quickly and Marty impedes him so it’s now a penalty to the Boks on the 22 – Steyn lines it up. Madness by France there!
59
Hold on – Steyn MISSES! That’s only his 5th miss in Test match rugby. France have it off the restart and Heymans gets this one wrong and puts it out in the Bok 22. That’s better Cedric.
67
France go quickly and Kankowski is sin-binned for a professional foul 10 metres out. The Boks are not doing themselves any favours here. Parra has a shot at goal to extend the lead.
68
BUT Parra misses probably one of the easiest kicks you’re ever likely to see. Shocker – ten out and just to the left. Kankowski deserved that card by the way. playing the ball from the side. Naughty.
69
Bekker is now on for Botha as France have a lineout on the Bok 22. They can put the World Champions away here.
77
Massive scrum by France and it disintegrates and Barnes gives a penalty to France bang in front that should seal the game then for Les Bleus.
78 20 – 13
Boks go for broke now and du Preez swings it to Steyn. Szarzewski knocks it on and the Boks have a scrum.
79
SA go right and then left. Olivier carries it up and is tackled by Chabal. Rossouw knocks on and that’s nearly game over then.
May I ask where you got the stats from? If it is from scrum.com you cannot trust it. Don’t believe me, check out the professional analysis from the Lions games vs. the ESPN scrum breakdown. ESPN scrum guys doesn’t know how a tackle looks.
Stats from Verusco (who is used by All Blacks, Australia, Bulls, etc.)the (The stats for the Lions tour, compare that to the scrum.com Lions tour stats and see how poor those stats are)http://www.sarugby.com/news/Stats_Centre_Lions.html
#5 Superb there are a few reasons, first and foremost, we lost and in the process we also lost our #1 ranking if not mistaken. Second, our showing in the scrum has gone downhill at the rate of knots, compounded by the pasting the AB pack got at the hands of our next opponents!!!
The old cliche…it is not that we lost but how, it shows a few serious gaps thats all.
In a garbled message to the Sunday Times, Dumisane wrote: “Somebody told me that brother Peter DE Velliers wasn’t happy about me. But millions of people were very happy about me, everywhere I go people talk about it. This is a simply song four lines to sing as a song very simply But I’m not afrikanse just Zulu.
“… Peter what he didn’t like I call RastafarI at the end of the song.”
Toulouse – French team manager Jo Maso said the choice of singer at each Test in France is made by the visiting team’s diplomatic staff.
Video: Botched South African anthem
“Every time we welcome a foreign side, we ask the embassy to propose people for the national anthems,” said Maso.
“It’s the South African Embassy that put forward this man and we respected their choice.”
Ras Dumisani, a Durban native who sported dreadlocks tucked into a huge red, green and white Rastafarian cap, sang Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika ahead of the Boks defeat against France in Toulouse.
Dumisani was aghast when told that Springbok coach Peter de Villiers and several players were unhappy with his rendition, saying “everyone at the stadium told me I sang well, even after the match.”
