Wallabies stalwart Matt Giteau has given every indication he has controversially missed Rugby World Cup selection.

Coach Robbie Deans will announce his 30-man squad for the tournament tomorrow  and Giteau had been struggling to make the cut after missing Australia’s opening  three Tri Nations Tests.

Deans flew back into Sydney from South Africa this afternoon, saying he had  resolved his squad and would start the process of letting players know of their  fortunes.

Barely an hour later, Giteau had posted a partly-cryptic comment on his Twitter account.

“Thank u ballboys, thank u linesman! That’s it,” Giteau tweeted.

Despite having 92 Test caps and being able to cover three backline positions,  including halfback, the 28-year-old looks set to miss out to Berrick Barnes as  the back-up playmaker to incumbent five-eighth Quade Cooper.

Rookie halfback Nick Phipps is likely to get the nod as a third specialist  No.9, behind general Will Genia and Luke Burgess.

World Cup winning centre Tim Horan said two days ago on Twitter that Giteau  was “a must” for the squad as the Brumbies back could cover every position in  the backline.
