Lions (20) 30 / Sharks (9) 30 (Final Score)

The MTN Lions hosted the Sharks at Coca-Cola Park, Johannesburg at 16:05 SA Time. This was the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1, SHD & M-Net on TV in SA.

In a humdinger of a match the MTN Lions and the Sharks drew 30 / 30 but it took a momentous effort for the Sharks to pull back a 21-point deficit and they managed to pull 14 of those points back whilst Butch james was off in the sin bin, yellow carded for a head high flying tackle on Keegan Daniel.

    Oh vlok.

  • 153

    Would you look at that…

Lions lost all momentum when Butch went off.

  • 155

Gonna be a draw. Damn Sharks woke up late. Will take the 2 points though. We could still win it.

    GO SHARKS.

  • 156

    Sharks have the momentum.

    Nobody wants a draw.

  • 157

A Butch drop attempt charged down

    2nd draw of the weekend?

    Where are the Pakistani bookmakers?

Final Score: MTN Lions 30 / 30 Sharks

Lions end the season with 29 points with the draw and next week’s bye, and still haven’t won at Coca Cola Park since 2009.

Butch’s sh1t cost his team the victory. What will Mitchell have to say about that BS?

  • 164

    Another draw!

  • 165

Cheers all. Going home for an argument and maybe kick the dog.

Good luck Bulls. Gee die Bergbokke horings!

  • 166

    Well done to both teams.

BUT A BIG WELL DONE TO MY SHARKS. Great come back. We woke up far too late. Will take the 2 points.

All to play for next week at Loftus. We have both Alberts and Deysel back. That should help. We play like the first half we will never come back against the Bulls though.

  • 167

Ok, if SA wants three teams in the play-offs, the Waratahs NEED to lose next week. End of story.

BTW, K*K end to a great game. Someone deserved to win…

Nasty high tackle by Butch on Keegan. I actually thought Mark was gonna pull out the red card. Something Butch had better be careful with in the world cup. He sure has made a difference to the Lions team. But needs to watch the high tackles.

OK, over to the Stormpoppies / Bulls thread

  • 171

@ Smallies #170 Exactly, and I have no sympathy with the Shorks at all. Their cheap shots and scandalous cynical play against a superior Cheetahs team has come back to bite them hard! Go Bulls!

  • 172

    @ smallies72:
@ Cheetah4eva:Look I was not in South Africa last week, so never saw that game at all.

But both of you should just forget last weeks game and move on man, it is over. Sharks had 3 games wiped from under them last year by bad reffing. In the first 5 we lost we should have won 3 of those. But the ref cost us. We had a Super14 taken from under our nose, by a ref in 2007 that we should have won. That was tough to take. We had and moved on. It is gone, over done with, in the past. Get on and move on with it. Get on with it, live in the now not the past. Sharks have had plenty more against them by refs than Cheetahs.

Sorry I can’t say much about last weeks game, just never saw it. I saw the game today and can say Butch’s high tackle was terrible. But he has made a huge difference to the Lions team. He is still a very classy player. Just has to watch the high tackles when he is a Bok.

@ smallies72:173 – Smallies this is sport man, not politics. Take it like a sportsman buddy. Stop going on about it.

Sharks picked up 2 points. I am chuffed about that. 🙂

  • 175

@Puma, Apart from the reffing issue, it was more the Sharks attitude in the match that was dissapointing. For a team, whose supporters, are always claiming that the Cheetahs can only stay competitive by slowing the ball down, and by spoiling! Well, the Sharks showed us a masterclass performance of cynical spoiling play. Bordering on cheating. 1st go watch the match. It wasn’t a forward pass like what cost u S14 final. It was a hour of bad calls and strange decisions that irked us. But we will move on, but never again must the Shaaaks must never again complain about spoiling opponents. Interesting final round looming!

boet you and smallies becomming more pathetic by the day , the cheetahs have had their feir share of dirty play , ffs man greow up , cheetah what is sad is i have always thought you one of the better level headed bloggers , eish man??@ Cheetah4eva:

  • 178

@ sharky! I made no mention of dirty pplay, the Cheetahs can take, it and dish it out! If you are going to defend the win as fair and square do so, but you will just tarnish your own image as a fair Sharks supporter. We are complaining about the way Plonker allowed the Sharks to get away with slapping the ball out of Sarel’s hands, and ludik killing the ball etc. Some Shaaaaks are saying “Hey, we lost the S14 in 2007 cos the ref didn’t blow the forward pass!”

This was different buddy, a whole match of weird calls, and one way blowing by Jonker. We can accept a missed forward pass, a dubious scrum penalty, but the cr@p that went down in Bloem last week went way deeper than that. No wonder there was such scampering behind the scenes! There is also a reason why Jonker was withdrawn for the Lions match!

So if you want pathetic, then it’s a Sharks supporter trying to justify that! Better to just shush, and let the dust settle, instead of trying to justify what was clearly inept reffing!
