Stormers (9) 19 / Lions (8) 16 (Final Score)
The DHL Stormers hosted the MTN Lions at Newlands, Cape Town at 19:10 SA Time. This was the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1, SHD & M-Net on TV in SA.
The Stormers escaped jail with a very late comeback to eventually win by 3 points and with a number of their old stalwarts not firing. Guys like Bryan Habana, Conrad Jantjes, Ricky Januarie and Andries Bekker seem to be playing on hype and reputation only.
The gutsy Lions tried till 4 minutes into injury time to slowly move upfield and score, which they nearly did, only to be denied by a desperate steal by the Stormers.

Stormers win by 3
ai leeus ek weet hoe dit voel hoor
HAHAHA daai is n paar WP hartaanvalle, lekker vir ons gelag ne KP, leef jy nog.
Mitchell gaan hulle almal faks, nog meer weggegooi as teen die Bulle.
@ Pietman:
hy is baie beter as fransois my oupa is jan pickart low
Oppie hond se gat…
Ok maar net-net.
Die Lions issie meer ‘n weggooi-span nie.
Little things are still hindering, but they should get better as the season progresses.
Net die Tahs wat goed lyk op hierdie stadium, ander spanne is gemiddeld. Maar die seisoen is nog lank.
I am glad the Stormers won… for my Bru only… hehehe
…..night folks.
128@ bdb:

Ek moet ‘n kopseerpil gaan sluk…. ek sien skoon skeel.
Ek groet ook!
Nag, slaap sag!
Hierdie derby games gaan die manne dood maak, WB gaan nog NH toe.
Tot volgende week, lekker slaap almal.
Vlok, the head rules again. Why can’t the heart win for a change?
Can’t see the Lions beating the Blues on Friday night. Just a bogey side.
I have a sneaky suspicion that Mitchell will really mould this young squad when they tour.
Expect a detailed match report of this game early tomorrow morning.
Well done Stormers, Sharks and Bulls.
I think the Cheetahs are really going to struggle without Smith for the rest of the year, and think the Lions will win a few games.
Tourney looks wide open though.
My dark horse, Waratah.
For WC I think the AB’s may struggle.
Their provincial Rugby is looking fragile, and the off the field trauma MUST have an effect.
Much as I hate it, England are slowly but surely combining into a formidable squad, and as others have previously stated, the S15 format will physically “murder” the SA players.
Aussies will benefit most from the S15 format, and I think they will do well in WC, but in NZ in Autumn, can’t see them winning.
Sh1t it’s going to be an interesting year.
Flip, this site has emptied quicker than an Irish pub after happy hour.
Are you all hen pecked?
Guess I’ll have to discuss the Rugger with the Captain and prepare myself mentally for the Golf tomorrow.
Cheers All.
Sorry Scrumdown we will discuss you match report
