Vodacom Bulls scrumhalf, Fourie du Preez, describes his pending achievement of 100 Super Rugby matches for the Bulls as a ‘massive honour and milestone”.

Du Preez will become the fourth Bulls centurion in Super Rugby – and their first backline player – when he runs on the field for the Bulls against the Lions on Saturday.

“The Super Rugby competition is the toughest in world rugby and to be able to play that long is a great feeling and a massive highlight for me,” Du Preez said.

The 28 year old player feels the fact that he is achieving this with so many world class players around him, makes the experience more special.

“I was privileged to play with many great players in this time and also in a structure that allows one to really enjoy the game of rugby. I feel honoured to play 100 games for such a team.”

Du Preez would have liked to play his 100th at Loftus Versfeld, but is confident that many Bulls fans will make the trip to Coca Cola Park.

“Hopefully there will be more than enough blue flags and jerseys around. I see every match as a huge occasion and this one against the Lions will not be any different. I was out of action for a long time and am keen to play again.”

He is pleased to face the Lions on his special day.

“They are worthy opponents. They are a dangerous side and I can still remember our 2005 defeat in Johannesburg. They are in a much better place at this stage of the Super competition as to where they were at the same time last year. A derby is always tough. We will be doing what we normally do and focus on our game. We are ready for the Lions and for the season,” Du Preez said.
