Former Natal Shark and now Saracens centre Brad Barritt has been called up to the England Elite Playing squad as cover for Riki Flutey.

Durban born Barritt was already in the England Saxons squad and has impressed playing for Saracens.

The England management made medical assessments of the senior England EPS on Sunday evening and Monday morning and made call ups as cover for injuries sustained over the weekend.

Northampton Saints forward Tom Wood has been called up for Leeds Carnegie’s Hendrie Fourie while Wasps No.8 Dan Ward-Smith has been called up for his Wasps team mate Simon Shaw.

Joe Marler of Harlequins has been called up for Bath’s David Wilson and Barritt called up for Flutey.

Hendrie Fourie (bruised rib), Simon Shaw (calf), David Wilson (sore back) and Riki Flutey (calf strain) will all continue to be treated and assessed by the England medical team in consultation with the medics from their clubs.

I’m surprised this Article is not getting comments, with the Sharkie supporters very vocal how we shunned Baritt.

To me he is average, let him play for England…

Not only Barrit, but if Hendrie Fourie isn’t a SAFFA I don’t know what he can be.

Do you know anything about him?

Hmm, See he was at Shimlas and has played for the Cheetahs. Now with Leeds in the Premiership with Marco Wentzel.

And to think Pravin Gordham wants to devalue the Rand further. Sh1t we’ll loose even more players to Europe!
