Springboks (24) 44 / Wallabies (28) 31 (Final Score)
The Springboks hosted the Wallabies in their penultimate encounter against one another this year in the Tri-Nations at Loftus, Pretoria, South Africa at 17:00 SA Time. This is the match thread for discussion of the game. The game was broadcast live on SuperSport 1, SuperSport HD and M-Net with previews from 16:00 SA Time.
In a very strange match, the Springboks proved too tough for the Wallabies, running in 5 tries to 4.
What was apparent to me of this match was how severely off form Bryan Habana was the whole match and what a positive impact Chiliboy Ralepelle made as a substitute for a lacklustre John Smit.
Francois Hougaard is my Man Of The Match!
Victor Matfield did a lap of honour after the match to celebrate his 100th Test Cap.
Time for some tough decisions for Peter de Villiers….. put Bryan Habana and John Smit out to pasture, their time has come and gone!

Ryan Kankowski, Ricky Januarie….I’m sorry, but these guys don’t even deserve to sit on the bench…I certainly woulnt want them in my CC team either. Habana is getting worse and worse. Some people think it’s experience that counts, but I would rather do without “experience” like that, and take a chance on some new blood. Take Hougie as an example…he just got mom after his second game in the bok jersey. I fear springbok rugby is moving back to the “whovever’s dad can give the coach n slagskaap, his son wil play in the 1st team! I honestly feel selections are not made on merrit….it’s all pelly pelly atm.

@ biltongbek:
Biltong…ek like jou span of the future …

@ bos_otter:
Bos, hy is baie besig in die los, is soos n’ vierde voorspeler, ek rate hom as die beste haker in wereld rugby, maar dit is maar my persoonlike opinie
@ biltongbek:
@ biltongbek: ek dink jy het sopas my punt gemaak.
@ bos_otter:
@ biltongbek: rofl….jou blikslaer…. 🙂
My kinders mag eers trou as hulle 40 is 🙂
lekker aand verder aan almal….ooo, en stadig oor die klippe 🙂 Don’y party to much….keep it for next week when we beat the auzies by 30+ ha ha ha 🙂
@ bos_otter:
Nag ou grote.
Well done Boks. Not sure what to make of this game but a win is a win. Tries galore tonight from both sides. Really have to up the defence.
Habs really is the only player I would change for next week. Cost us 14 points. Bring back Aplon. Or give the younsters a chance there. Mvovo or Basson.
Good luck for next week Bokke. Pleased we won this.
Congrats to Vic on his 100th and getting it with a win.
I have recorded both After Match Press Conferences, will put up a thread tomorrow with a choice of either Audio or Video of the pressers
Robbie Deans was in a very sour mood… not a very talkative fella… Snorrie came out with a Snorrism or 2 as per usual….
Congratulations Saffas, Boks showed character to come back from a shocking start. Also despite the Aussies trying to run them off their feet the Boks hung in there this week. Juan Smith proved again what a solid player he is. An entertaining game.
We saw a shot of Victor’s family. Which one was his wife, the older woman? 🙂
@ JimT:
Hi Jim (The Prop)…My biggest disappointment was Percy handed Victor his special boots wearing a Victor mask….what’s that about????
I felt cheated!! 🙁
VRYSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!
The All Blacks would have klapped either og these teams by 50 points had they of played like that.
