Springbok scrum half Ruan Pienaar will join Ulster at the start of September even though the Springboks won’t have completed the TriNations after agreeing terms with the Sharks.

The Natal Sharks have agreed to released Pienaar before the end of the TriNations so it is unlikely that he will play for the Sharks again.

Pienaar is part of the Springboks TriNations squad and his contract will officially begin with Ulster on the 1st of September but will be available for South Africa if he is named in the 22 for the test against Australia on the 4th of September.

He is a regular feature in the Springboks team so he is likely to miss the Magners League opener against Ospreys.

Twenty six year old Pienaar has agreed a two year contract with the Irish Province and can play at either scrum-half or fly-half.

Pienaar will join fellow Springboks and Sharks players Johann Muller and BJ Botha at Ravenhill.

He made his debut for the Springboks in the 2006 Tri-Nations and was part of the World Cup winning squad in 2007.

Pienaar says that he is “very excited about the change”.

Hell man, pity players are leaving SA!

Anyway, go well Ruan… just don’t expect me to ask for your inclusion as a Bok in the squads I would choose on the blog till you come back to SA permanently.

It’s the Pound and Euro or the Bokke jersey… not both, I’m afraid!

Another one of our talents leave SA. Ruan was messed about not only by the Sharks but at National level too.

    Good luck Ruan.

Now hope like crazy PdV does not select Ricky for the remaining tests. Has to be Hougaard. We sure do miss FdP.

Think it is about time Jano Vermaak gets a chance too. Or even the Sharks two scrummies are better than Ricky. Need to get a back up for FdP now before next year.

Real conundrum for the Bokke…. Ruan must start the following 3 Tests but Hougie MUST get some serious game time as well at scrummie.

We’ll see how Hougie goes at scrummie for the Bulls against the Lions this weekend… suspect he will be a bit rusty though.

@ Puma: Puma…not Jano, he isnt in the top 4 anymore, the youngsters have overtaken him…he should have left the Lions then he would have grown.

Ruan has been treated like shit by PdV. Keep playing him out of position and now with FdP injured he had to sit on the bench for a very poor Januarie. Got a change at Brisbane just to be brought off for a player who haven’t play No9 for the last year and a half.
The wheels are coming off any way so why stay on any longer?
