Peter de Villiers – coach
“We are 100% behind Bafana Bafana. We will show our support by attending their match against Uruguay in Pretoria next Wednesday and each member of our squad has a Bafana jersey that we will wear on the days that they’re playing matches.
“This is such a great occasion for our country. If anything, the World Cup has created or rekindled an appreciation for flags and for the identity of a country. South Africans have bought into the event wholeheartedly. We are a nation that is passionate about sport – any sport – and this is already so clear in how our people are supporting the event and a ball is yet to be kicked. I am sure it will be a major success.”
John Smit – captain
“It is not often that a Springbok Test will take a back seat to something else. But this certainly is the case with the Soccer World Cup and we gladly accept that. This event is important to South Africa. All the planning has been done and it’s time to show the world what South Africans can achieve. The thousands of foreign visitors will discover at least one secret and that is that South Africa is the best place in the world to live.
“I think Bafana Bafana will do us all proud. There is a lot of expectation and pressure but they must turn that to their advantage by drawing strength from it and channeling it through the team. We won’t get to many games but we will be following their progress very closely.”
Victor Matfield – vice-captain
“The Vuvuzelas may be loud but they create a fantastic atmosphere. When we played the Super 14 semi-final and final at Orlando Stadium in Soweto it was the best atmosphere I have ever experienced. 50 000 people cheering and blowing vuvuzelas was amazing and I think they are here to stay. It did cause a few hassles with lineout calls but definitely made it a memorable occasion!”
Bryan Habana
“I was named after two soccer players – Bryan Robson and Gary Bailey – and have been a Manchester United fan from a very young age so I have an appreciation for the game of soccer. This is a great event for our country and I’m sure that we will succeed and show the world what we can do when it comes to organising a big event like this. As for Bafana, I think they will be inspired by the home support and will achieve what they have set out to do at the tournament.”
Schalk Burger
“I am sure the guys will get together in the team room on Friday to watch Bafana Bafana play Mexico. Under normal circumstances it would be great to enjoy a few beers whilst doing this but with a big Test match to play on Saturday we will have to be happy with a few Energades! This is the biggest sporting event in the world and I’ll make an effort to watch as much of it as possible.”

Hi Blouste, we used to have alot of banter on Voldy in the evenings…Soda Joe called it “The Night Owls” slot. We had loads of laughs and a year ago during the Lions Tour I too had the pleasure of meeting lots of bloggers in both Cape Town and Pretoria.
They were an outstanding bunch of people.. Now we have ‘London Keo’ and 4man is good at organising trips to the rugby etc.

He shouted VRYSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!! in my ear all night. I couldn’t get a word in the whole night. Next morning my left ear had a strange buzzing sound, almost like an ear babalaas from sitting to close to a vuvuzela.
My hearing has recovered nicely now, but I think I’ve learnt my lesson….. 😉
@ fender:
I will remember to take ear defenders!! 😉
See you all, have a great day

London keo is also known as “Norms Nomads”.
The latest trip was to Wales to watch the Boks play. There are lots of exiles in The UK and Europe and one of the ways to keep in touch with people from a country we are passionate about, and share a common interest, is by blogging. As a Sergeant Major I thought there has got to be a better way to do this, so a couple of years ago invited everyone on Keo to turn out to what is now our HQ in Twickenham, “The Fox” pub. On our 2nd trip there, they ran out of Guiness. We have attended so far NZ vs Baa Baa’s,Boks vs Baa Baa’s, Guiness Premiership final and Wales vs Springboks. With the politicisation of the keo website, we needed a new home, at this stage this is Rugby Talk…there are some guys that are uncomfortable with both blogs, but once they are on the address list, they get regular e-mails from me about any activites going on or any interesting news or current affair items, a name change has been mooted, and this is where “Norms Nomads” comes into the picture. The organisation is loosely run as a democratic dictatorship. If you would like to become a member, you need only be a Saffer, with a good sense of humour, or if Not a Saffer to have a love for Saffers and the game of rugby…its a way for us to keep in touch with home you see! If you want to join drop me a mail at langeraadt@yahoo.com and after the proper vetting you will go onto the list for being kept informed.
@ Wallabie.:47 – Walla, We all are. Just about every car has a South African flag flying. Also outside our houses here just about everyone has a massive SA flag flying. I have my car flag but need one of those massive flags to tie onto a pole outside my house. So going off in a few minutes to buy one. We are all behind our team.
The vibe here is just electric. AWESOME 😀
Well finally got a flag seller here in Durbs. Gosh!! They at every traffic light in Joburg every single corner has a flag seller. Here I had to drive down to the beach front just to find one. Also the massive flag has not damn rod!! Now just taken the rod out of my Sharks flag and will try and put it into this one. Hope it works. Rain here now so will hang it up tomorrow.
