Scotland Women head coach Philip Doyle has announced his backroom staff for the upcoming season.

Doyle has confirmed that Bryan Easson will remain in post as Assistant Coach for the season ahead. Easson will be working with the backs with Doyle being the lead defence coach.

New to the management team will be Andy Weir. Weir has worked with Doyle for several years supporting him both with Ireland Women and at Ulster Rugby. Weir will be assisting the team and management with the continued development of a winning culture as well as supporting player welfare.

Head Coach Philip Doyle said, “I am very happy to have Bryan continue in my coaching team. We are getting on really well and it helps that our philosophy on rugby is very similar. He is a great coach who has a lot of experience and more importantly the girls are really listening to him and I love the way he is shaping the attack.

“I am delighted that Andy has decided to support the Scotland Women team this year. I have worked with Andy for a number of years and believe that he will be an asset to the team and the management group.”

In addition, the squad will also draw on the expertise of Scottish Rugby scrum specialists who will work with Philip Doyle and the forwards on this crucial area.

Scott Forrest returns to focussing on his role as Head Coach for Scotland Women 7s as well as his role as Scotland Women High Performance Manager for the coming season

Head of Women and Girls Rugby, Gemma Fay said, “We have a really strong management group and coaching group to support us this season. We are pleased that Bryan is continuing on in the coaching team for this season.

“Scott will still be heavily involved in the Women’s programme through his Head Coach role with the Women 7s and his role as High Performance Manager. He did an excellent job for us last year as Assistant Coach, however, we want allow Scott more time this year to prepare our 7s team as best as possible ahead of another World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series Qualifier in April 2020.”
