DAVID BOWIE (David Robert Jones)
8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016
Music Icon of the last 40 years, David Bowie passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening at his home in New York, after an 18 month battle with liver cancer.
Bowie will be remembered as an artist who shaped the musical thinking of a generation, and who unashamedly did things the way he wanted.
On this, the 1st “Pub Night” of 2016, please feel free to post your tributes to David in the form of his music, as well as that of those he collaborated with and influenced.
From humble working class beginnings in London’s Brixton district, to the heady heights of Super Star status, David Bowie remained a workaholic dedicated to his music, releasing his last album, Blackstar on his 69th birthday just 2 days before his death.
Bowie either directly or indirectly influenced decades of would be musicians and that influence on members of genres such as the Punk Rock and New Romantic is without question.
Enjoy the evening, and make it a celebration of Bowie’s life and music.

That maybe came out wrong, am grateful and fortunate to be able to go work, the unfortunate bit is that won’t join in here rest of evening
If there is ever a tribute concert for Bowie this cover by the Wallflowers would be essential
@ robzim:
Nice. Haven’t heard this version before.
@ Foreignerforbokcoach:
Yeah, its a very good band.. not sure if you know but the the singer is Jakob Dylan… Bob’s son.
@ robzim:
I actually never knew that. I will have to look at more of their stuff.
@ Bullscot:

Best tribute EVER.
My Post above refers to Bullscot’s post #68.

Sad to see Jakob Dylan inherited his fathers singing genes.
Can’t believe nobody mentioned this one
Or this
And this more especially
And most of all this
You’re welcome

Not bad for a bloke who according to you cannot sing 🙂

@ 82
Ja, this is stunning…
As is just about all Gabriel’s work
If he’d been called Jacob Smith he’d have won shit.
Sorry I forgot the smiley
😆
Like Ruan Pienaar… if he was called Ruaan Smit he might have ended up working for the Post Office in Bloemfontein 🙂
