Club Atlético de San Isidro

A letter published on the Club Atlético de San Isidro website says that the Club has reached an agreement with Unión Argentina de Rugby (UAR) to be the HOME VENUE for Argentina’s new Super Rugby team for 5 years from 2016.

The new franchise, which will be formally unveiled in the coming weeks, appears likely to play its home games at the Club, which is situated approximately 20 minutes north of Buenos Aires.

“We finally reached an agreement that will allow the UAR to use 1 field at our headquarters to play 8 games between March and June. All parties showed a great willingness to reach a mutually beneficial agreement,” the statement said.

To prepare for the arrival of Super Rugby, the San Isidro ground will be upgraded, including the installation of a new synthetic pitch, new lights for high definition television broadcast, development of a high-end gym, updated home and visitor change rooms plus seating to accommodate 10 000 fans, along with new food and beverage facilities.

The Club has also been in close collaboration with local mayor Mr. Gustavo Posse and other municipal authorities to ensure the smooth undertaking of match days and associated logistics such as transport, parking and maintaining the local surrounds.

San Isidro will hold a briefing session on Thursday 12 November to answer any further queries.
