Grant Gilchrist

Scotland lock Grant Gilchrist has been ruled out of the national team’s Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign with a groin injury.

Gilchrist sustained the soft tissue damage in the 19th minute of the national team’s 39 / 16 win over USA on Sunday, with the recovery period expected to extend beyond the competition.

Gilchrist’s replacement will be announced in due course.

Medical bulletin:

Finn Russell has sustained an inversion injury to his ankle, which will require further care and assessment.

A number of other players will require the ongoing care of the national medical team, however these are not considered an immediate concern.

    @ nortie:

Big big blow for the Poms, I think Australia will take them this weekend, you can only imagine the field day the press is going have if they don’t make it out of the group. That would suit us though as it would take the crowd out of play to a large extent for a semi or final at Twickers.

    @ NZINCHINA:
Also hoping for an Australian win.

As long as NZ or Aus win the trophy if we can’t then I won’t mind.

I see both Palu and Skelton is also being sent home after sustaining injuries

    @ nortie:

Yes you’d certainly hope so otherwise they’ll be unbearable 🙂 Injuries are starting to mount now and could be a deciding factor as the bench is going to play a massive part at this comp.
