Currie Cup: Golden Lions – Concussed Jaco Kriel expected to be ready for Pumas clash

The Xerox Golden Lions medical group have released a report ahead of the team’s match against the Steval Pumas in Nelspruit this weekend.

Only 1 new injury was sustained during last weekend’s victory over the Cell C Sharks.

Loose forward Ruaan Lerm has sustained a grade II ankle ligament strain and is expected to be out of action for approximately 4 weeks.

Captain Jaco Kriel, who sustained a concussion during last weekend’s match, is recovering well and has commenced a graded return to play (GRTP) programme on Monday. He is expected to be available for selection for Friday’s match.

They lie 2nd on the overall Log, trailing the 1st-placed Vodacom Blue Bulls only on points difference.

They beat the Steval Pumas 44 / 27 at Emirates Airline Park 2 weeks ago.

Friday’s clash at Mbombela Stadium is scheduled for 19:10 SA Time.

I saw that Kriel made some sites top team of the weekend list, lol he does not even need to play well to be on peoples lips.

@ MacroPolo: Actually, he played on Saturday, and was concussed late in the 2nd half.

I know he played, but he had a very quiet game, the sharks were all over the Lions at ruck time.
