    @ Bullscot:

Bully, what do you see unfolding in this Lions tour?

Do you think the Bokke will win the series, get beaten… will it be tight or a run-away by one of the 2?

I think we will know a bit more after this 1st game… even though the Joburg Lions is not a real measure of how it will go…

I watched the Sprinboks vs Georgia match last night and the Bokke were naturally rusty after 18 months of no Bokke rugby… but they gained momentum as the match wore on and to be honest it was’nt the best Bokke outfit who played.

There was no Faf de Klerk, not the usual centres, not the usual wings (Kolbe & Mapimpi)… RG Snyman & Lood de Jager only joins the Bokke today or tomorrow… still a lot of settling to do. I think we’ll sort of see the best Bokke side chosen to play the 2nd Test against Georgia next Friday evening.

I see SIGMA is now the sponsor of the Joburg Lions…

Sigma Connected is an international Company, with headquarters based in the UK.

  • 5

Players out on the pitch… a wind-still evening in Joburg!

  • 6

    Game ON!

    Kick-Off by the Sigma Lions!

  • 7

Good start by the Lions… hahaha

    I mean the B & I Lions!

Try B&I Lions, the wing, Louis Rees-Zammit!

  • 8

    Sigma Lions 0 / B & I Lions 7

  • 9

I think I might, in stead of calling them both Lions, call them the following:

    Bullet dodgers (Sigma Lions)
    Soap dodgers (B & I Lions)

  • 10

    BIL penalty, quick tap…

    Try Hamish Watson, BIL!

  • 11

    Sigma Lions 0 / 14 B & I Lions

    @ grootblousmile:
Hello GBS sorry disappeared for a bit how are you ou pel?
In theory you have to think Lions will be favourites to win, possibly even end the tour undefeated BUT don’t know how the Boks will do especially as they will have less game time to gel than the Lions who have all their warm-up games. As long as COVID doesn’t win and all the games go ahead I think we should be happy regardless of the results.

    @ grootblousmile:
Do you think Bok coach will go with his best 23 in the next game against Georgia? I suppose there is the SA ‘A’ game as well to let some of the fringe players get a chance to stake a claim or at least get some top rugby in case of injuries. As far as the locks go think Snyman and Lood have been coming back from injury so don’t know when last they played a match. The last game I saw Lood play for Sale, must have been a few months ago, he was awesome probably the best game have seen from a lock here in a long time. The du Preez twinin have also been good for Sale, in particular JL (think it is) has been in such good form at lock for them, very physical and active in carrying and defending.

3 Sigma Lions penalties in rapid succession…

Joburg Lions opt to scrum from the last one, 5m out, nearly in front of the sticks.

    14 @ Bullscot:

I think the Bokke coach will want the starting 15 for the Tests get time together, so that they gel… that’s why I think they will be selected for the Georgia Test…

Also then specially because they are playing against all those players who have had plenty Test Rugby very recently.

  • 17

Another 5m penalty for the Jozie boys… tap and go.

  • 18

BIL penalty, 10m from their own line…

  • 19

The Jozie bunch will last only so long, then the score will blow out spectacularly against them.

The class-difference is already so obvious.

  • 20

Nice and solid scrums from the Joburg lot though…

  • 21

BIL penalty just outside the Jozies 22… kicked into the corner.

  • 22

    Knocked by the BIL.

Jozie scrum, 5m from their own line.

  • 23

Again a very solid Jozie scrum… good to see…

  • 24

BIL scrum Free Kick… they tap and go.

  • 25

    Try Ali Price, BIL!

  • 26

    Sigma Lions 0 / 21 B & I Lions

  • 27

    Tryyyyy Vincent Tshituka, Jozieeee!

    Tshituka injured in the process!
