Scotland 24/ 27 Ireland
(Final Score)
Scotland host Ireland this afternoon at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
Kick off at 17:00 (15:00 GMT).
This will be Scotland’s first test in 4 weeks while Ireland played their last 6 Nations game 2 weeks ago. Can Scotland bounce back from the agony of a narrow defeat at home to Wales in a game they should have won. Or will Ireland have picked up too much confidence from their big win away against Italy in their last game.

Huw Jones scores in right hand corner just a few minutes after coming on as sub!
Hogg converts
Pity that Price pass went to ground before it got to vd Merwe who had 1 player in front of him to beat, if he had been passed that ball properly and got past Earls it could have been a try from inside Scotland 22
Russell off, not sure if it’s for HIA. Hogg at 10, Maitland shifted to 15.
Lots of replacements on the field for both teams now
Would like to see the stats on CJ seems like he has been carrying a lot
Come on Scotland less than 15 minutes left need to score soon but will struggle to do that from inside their half for so long.
Cummings off looks like a damaged shoulder
As Gilchrist and Haining are already subbed on we have scrumhalf Scott Steele on at flank for Scotland with Haining shifting into the second row
Earles went high in the tackle and fell off it before vd Merwe is tackled out, should have been a penalty to Scotland. Some justice as Ireland knock on their lineout
Strong run by vd Merwe takes play well into Ireland 22, and Scotland get a penalty that Hogg kicks for touch, interesting…
Another penalty to Scotland under the posts, waiting for decision as Ryan is walking off for HIA
Tap kick taken
Gilchrist smashed back but Ireland was offside, ref talking to Sexton – 3rd penalty in short time in their 22 but all they get is a warning and Sexton told to talk to his players. Ref tells him “don’t be scared” 🙂
Quick tap taken by Scotland
Amazing defence by Ireland how did vd Merwe not score there
Scotland over but was it grounded. Ref whistle is broken he gets another one and he blows it to check with TMO if he scored
Try must be given Watson scores it, and it’s given!
Price clearance kick charged down and Price gathers it in the air in his 22 before it bounces but then holds on to long at the break down to gift Ireland a penalty
Looked like it was going to miss to the right but the ball swerved over quite late, may be the wind
Between Watson and CJ for man of the match for me, let’s see what the kenners think
Looked like a high tackle on Huw Jones but ref doesn’t think so
Game over, Ireland win.
Tries: Scotland 3/2 Ireland but Scotland gave away too many penalties in kicking distance.
Beirne man of the match
Another disappointingly close loss for Scotland.
Ireland jump to 2nd in the table with that win.
Scotland at home against Italy next Saturday. At least it’s at home so no travel time problems but a 6 day turn around and with both starting locks having to go off possibly both with shoulder injuries that will be a concern. Will have to get Sam Skinner in.
Cheers

sorry my mistake not a shoulder but damage to his hand, missed the injury and it’s just the way he was walking off with one of his shoulders at an angle that made me think shoulder injury
