I would have given just a penalty for a high tackle…
Hogg clears… but it is not out…
Brilliant touchfinder by Yu Tamura.
Scotland defensive lineout, 10m from the Scotland line.
Bit of an interferance line run by a Japanese player, not seen by the match officials…
Japan scrum, 8m inside the Scotland half.
Scrums a bit of a mess… resets every time.
Captains are spoken to and they speak to their forwards.
Japan scrum Free Kick… against Dell.
Japan opt to scrum again.
Another Japan scrum…
I like the angles they run, the unpredictability.
Japan full arm scrum penalty, early engage!
Very kickable.
Posts it is, to increase the lead to 10 points, close to halftime.
Just missed to the left…
22m Drop out.
Try Kenki Fukuoka, Japan!
Wow!!
Wow, wow, wow!
Japan 21 / 7 Scotland
Halftime
14-Point lead…
Japan only 1 try away from a bonus point for tries…
Scotland teetering on the edge of the exit of the Rugby World Cup 2019.
Scotland will HAVE to make the game much, much tighter… and that is not their natural style to do so…
Scotland will also have to play ball-in hand rugby and starve Japan of possession… and never kick for Japan to counter-attack.
I said in Comment No 3 (before this match) that Scotland would have to play a tight game… and they have not!
2nd Half ON!
Japan doing so well. Have said before they look very well coached but they are executing the plan well too and thinking on their feet. They were being driven back with gang tackles initially but didn’t panic realizing with Scotland commuting so many players to the tackle gaps would appear. They also started on attack to get players ahead of the ball carrier to block the defender and get more time and space. Also noticed there were a few line outs where the last 2 Japanese players were closing the gap.
Can Scotland drag this match back under control?
Scotland penalty, on hteir own 10m line.
Japan defending right IN the Scotland faces.
Also thought Scotland played into Japan hands by not kicking to touch when Japan were on top just to try slow the game down
Kenki Fukuoka strips the ball from a Scot, and streaks through for his 2nd try, under the sticks…
Bonus Point in the bag!
Gane over Boks to play Japan in quarter final
Japan 28 / 7 Scotland
Fraser Brown in trouble… injured…
Fraser Brown complaining of a leading forearm against him… the referee having no word of it…
Any team taking on Japan, will have to be in top form…
A Japanese player very groggy on the far side…
Scotland very close…
Try WP Nel, Scotland!
