Players out on the field…
I think the Blues are due for a big game…
Game ON!
Kick-Off by the Sunwolves!
Good counter by the Sunwolves…
Sunwolves penalty, easy one… posts!
In front, inside the Blues 22.
Blues 0 / 3 Sunwolves
Like Nick Mallett says… not enough Kawasakis in the Sunwolves side…
Out of the 23-member squad, I count about 6 or 7 players of Japanese origin.
That is less than a third of the squad of Japanese players in a Japan-based team…
Another Sunwolves penalty… also kickable… shot!
Blues 0 / 6 Sunwolves
In crucial positions, both these sides have inadequate players…
For the Blues: Extremely average flyhalf… and a few other players in the forwards pack who are not right up there at the top.
For the Sunwolves: Tight 5 a bit average and a spattering of willing but average players all over.
Blues penalty… slotted by Plummer.
Blues 3 / 6 Sunwolves
Try Rieko Ioane, Blues!
Blues 8 / 6 Sunwolves
Again the Blues dangerous out wide, this time on the right hand side…
Some very good players in both sides too… not only the average players I referred to earlier…
For the Blues: Rieko Ioane, Sonny Bill Williams, Melani Nanai, Akira Ioane… to name a few
For the Sunwolves: Michael Little, Jamie Booth and maybe even Gerhard van den Heever
Try Wolves, Matsuda!
TMO… to look for a possible knock.
Possibly forward… I don’t think there was a knock… came off the knee…
No clear and obvious knock… try stands!
Blues 8 / 13 Sunwolves
Blues hard on attack… 5m out… advantage…
Penalty given… 2 advantages to choose from… an offside and a high tackle.
Blues opt to scrum, 5m out, 3m left of the posts… dangerous attacking scrum!
Try Rieko Ioane… on the blind side wing…
Blues 15 / 13 Sunwolves
Hooter goes in the background to indicate time is up in the 1st Half…
Lemoenetyd
Only saw glipses of what the Blues are capable of in the 1st half… but the Sunwolves defence must be congratulated for their resilience.
The Sunwolves also, some moments of extremely good play, specially by those players I described as very good… Michael Little, Jamie Booth (couple of excellent breaks.. and good distribution)…
Our studio commentators on Supersport, alluding to the fact that the Sunwolves are often offside… Robbie Kempson, Akona Ndungame.
Akona Ndungane says the Blues No 9 and 10 are also not using the right options with the rush defence of the Sunwolves… just letting the ball go down the backline and not taking THAT pressure off by varying play.
2nd Half ON!
Blues penalty, offside… yeah definately coming in on the side of the ruck!
Another Blues penalty… holding on… 12m out.
