Pity the Springboks only won and did not manage to get a bonus point for tries…
Rock solid Springbok defence…
Players who absolutely stood out on defence was Pieter-Steph du Toit, Siya Kolisi and some great try-saving tackles by Aphiwe Dyantyi on the wing.

So… who played well and who did not?
Bokke scrums and set phases went well enough.
David Pocock stole a number of Bokke balls on the ground… so our fetching and support over ground ball needs improvement overall.
Bokke contained the dangerous Wallaby backs very well. Wallabies certainly had a lot of ball to work with… but the Wallabies were taken time after time behind the advantage line.
– Tendai Mtawarira: Played well but he is predictable with ball in hand and getting seriously long in the tooth. I think Bokke should start with Steven Kitshoff at loosehead prop
– Malcolm Marx: Best hooker in the world
– Frans Malherbe: Strong enough in the scrums… bit I am not convinced. Wilco Louw should start at tighthead prop
– Eben Etzebeth: Strong and hard and good
– Franco Mostert: Tireless worker and never not a good game from him
– Siya Kolisi: Led by example… one of his better games
– Pieter-Steph du Toit: Deserved Man Of The Match. Absolutely a monster on defence, hard grafter… excellent at blind side!
– Sikhumbuzo Notshe: Misses some serious grunt and had an OK game… but if I have to single out 1 Bok who was a weak point it must be him
– Faf de Klerk: Mixed bag, nuggety and such a hard worker… but some of his kicks never found the desired target… not bad though
– Handré Pollard: Dead-eye-dick to posts, attacked the line well, massive break to set up faf’s try. Good game
– Aphiwe Dyantyi: Scoring machine and getting better by the day on defence… he saved the Bokke bacon twice with try-saving tackles
– André Esterhuizen: Solid on defence but not effective on attack today
– Jesse Kriel: Solid on defence but he lacks X-factor on attack, I feel
– Cheslin Kolbe: Workd way above his size. Huge heart and effort
– Willie le Roux: Bit of a mixed bag… but he was good enough
– Steven Kitshoff: He should start at loosehead… tackles well, carries well, good at the rucks and scrums well
– Wilco Louw: Should start at tighthead ahead of Frans Malherbe
– Bongi Mbonambi: Not nearly in the class of Malcolm marx. I rate him probably as SA’s 6th best hooker
– Marco van Staden: Not really effective yet at Bokke level… I think there are players who should rank above him… Kwagga Smith for instance
– RG Snyman: Not on long enough to rate
All the All Blacks have to do to win The Rugby Championship 2018 is to win tonight after midnight (SA Time) against Los Pumas in Argentina. The All Blacks are still 2 points clear of the Springboks on the Log… with this game in hand.
So, next week will probably be about pride and winning twice in a row against the All Blacks for the Springboks.
