Predictions for this game?
My thoughts… with Mario Ledesma as Los Pumas coach whilst he is also the Jaguares coach, I expect them to be good and to make a hard run for it against the Springboks and the Wallabies.
Looking at the Springboks I cannot help but think that with Duane Vermeulen out and Warren Whitely in at No 8, the Springboks lack some real grunt at No 8, whereas with Warren Whitely if a linking distributing game is played, these loosies can cause havoc.
I expect the Pumas to come out motivated and they will want to sling the ball around at will. As we know, they have a very exciting running game.
Eben Etzebeth is bound to be rusty and that worries me about the Springboks.
Because the Springboks are playing in South Africa, they should win the game… but my HOPE is they do not allow the Pumas a sniff, because if they do and the Pumas start believing, the Latin temperament of Los Pumas could cause huge problems.
Gooooooooo Springboks!
Hoping Malcolm Marx and Pieter-Steph du Tiot have massive games… and I hope Andrê Esterhuizen is solid and very abrasive in Midfield.
Springboks have to be wide awake out wide, because the Argies will want to strike out wide… and they have the fire power to do so.
I hope the Springboks defend IN the Pumas faces and gives them very, very little space to ignite their running game.
I’m not convinced about Francois Louw at openside flank anymore, I think his time has come and gone, hope he has a blinder and proves me totally wrong!
The Pumas have some real game breakers… Emiliano Boffelli, Bautista Delguy, Gonzalo Bertranou, Pablo Matera, Juan Figallo & Agustin Creevy… to name a few.
Players out on the field.
Anthems up next… but 1st a minute silence for 3 old players who have massed on… Martin Pelzel the most notable, Springbok flank in the late 1950’s and erly 1960’s.
Martin Pelzer only had 1 eye, having lost his 1 eye in a motor vehicle accident when he was a little boy.
Argentinian Anthem!
Elvis Blue with the SA Anthem!
Formalities done!
Agustin Creevy receives a Zulu shield from Siya Kolisi…
Game ON!
Kick-Off by the Springboks!
Bokke penalty, Malcolm Marx over the ball!!
Kicked to touch, lineout 9m out.
Mark by Emiliano Boffelli, on his own line…
Bokke lineout, 13m out…
Overthrow… eish!
22 Drop out for the Pumas.
Springboks lineout just inside the Pumas 22… ball taken back.
Try Lukhanyo Am, Bokke!
Springboks 5 / 0 Pumas
Faf de Klerk kicks out directly… lineout back just inside the Bokke 22.
Bokke scrum, after an up-and-under by Sanchez.
Scrum is well inside the Bokke half.
Referee blows it up, the scrum will have to re-form.
Bokke scrum Free Kick… tap and go.
Handbags… a plenty!
Captains both get a talking to…
Pumas penalty… 3m inside the Bokke half, against Beast.
2 Penalty advantages for the Pumas… Pumas very close.
Try Nicolas Sanchez, Los Pumas… under the sticks.
Springboks 5 / 7 Pumas
Pumas penalty against Francois Louw… on about their own 10m line… in on the side.
