So, a Springbok 2nd team against a mixed Welsh team with some 1st choice players and some 2nd stringers… also some unique experimental combinations.
… and the game is on neutral ground in the USA… Washington DC.
What can we expect under Rassie Erasmus, 1st up?
How rusty will the Springboks be as a 2nd string side?
Springbok weak points:
1. Curwin Bosch at fullback… a weak, weak, weak point
2. Chiliboy Ralepelle… not nearly close to a 1st choice hooker
3. Experimental combinations and players who are playing next to each other for the very first time
4. Ivan van Zyl at scrumhalf – I don’t rate him
5. Oupa Mahoje – I have NEVER rated him
6. On the bench: Marvin Orie should not be near a Springbok team, neither Ambrose Papier (at this stage)
This is a serious banana peal game for the Springboks, let’s hope their very short preparation time was spent well!
What I do not understand is why some 1st choice key combinations is not tested in this Test, with an eye on the next 3 weekends against England…
Halfbacks, centres, locks, front row…
What’s the real use of a 2nd string side, what’s the benefits??
Players out on the field… Anthems up next!
SA ANthem up first…
Pity it is the States, not nearly a full stadium…
Now for the Welsh Anthem
Anthems done and dusted.
It is wet in Washington DC!
Game ON!
Kick-Off by Wales!
Sang beker gaan vir Walis.
Bokke penalty, on their own 22… no daylight.
11 @ McLook:
Wat sê jy van die Bok span en die kombinasies?
Just butchered a try. Good defence Wales.
Welsh penalty, not rolling away quick enough… on the Bokke 22, 4m from touch… posts it is.
Missed to the right

Clearly a 50% quota team. Rassie making deposits in the hope the that will earn him some elbow space in the series against England and later.
Oupa Mahoje loses the ball in contact.
1st Scrum goes down… reset.
Not a lot of spectators.
Bokke penalty, man taken in the air…
Bokke lineout Free Kick… not keeping the gap.
Bokke opt to scrum
Again a reset scrum…
Bokke scrum Free Kick… Bokke want to scrum again.
Bokke knock, Wales scrum on the Welsh 10m line.
Kwagga Smith off for blood and possibly a head assessment.
Starter move that did not come off.
Lots of scrum problems… and the game not getting going properly… not good so far.
Wales scrum penalty, against Wilco Louw for going on his knee.
Wales do not manage to kick out…
No plan, no rhythm…
