Players out on the field…. shuffle up, game about to start!
Game ON!
Kick-Off by the Chiefs!
All early play was by the Chiefs… making ground with each phase… till the Blues get a penalty for holding on.
Good blues attack, till a knock 15m out from the Chiefs line.
All the New Zealand teams… if one can keep the ball against them, there are opportunities to make ground with all attacks, whether in the backline or with the forwards through the middle or around the fringes.
The typical New Zealand defensive systems is not to load or stack the rucks with players, but to have as many players as possible ready to run on the counter-attack.
So, if I had to plan to play a New Zealand side, I would play possession rugby and attack all channels…. phase play!!
Try Augustine Pulu, Blues!
Converted by Bryn Gatland.
Blues 7 / 0 Chiefs
Chiefs penalty, shot at goal it is!
Damian McKenzie misses the easy shot at goal.
Try Taleni Seu, Chiefs!
Blues 7 / 5 Chiefs
Chiefs relieving penalty, 5m from their own line.
Try Akira Ioane, Blues!!!
Blues 14 / 5 Chiefs
Once again with the try, the spaces evident in the defence of the Chiefs… Blues attackers keeping their ball-carrying arms above the tackles to facilitate the offloads.
Of course the success of all New Zealand sides also hinge on the very important factor that they attack into space and do not try to run over every opponent in front of them.
Try Wainui, Chiefs!
Blues 14 / 10 Chiefs
Blues penalty, playing the ball off his feet!
Shot it is.
But first we’ll have a TMO to look at a neck roll or something…
Neck roll indeed…
Penalty is reversed…
See Rassie Erasmus is new Springbok coach. When did AC receive his walking letter?
Chiefs penalty again… could be an easy shot at goal…
Pretty intense these NZ darbies.
Chiefs shun the easy 3 points and kick to the corner.
Turnover scrum for the Blues…
Blues under Tana desperate to create a winning culture.
26 @ McLook:
Howzit Kalahari… how are things in New Zealand?
Interesting the chiefs experiment with McKenzie on 10.
Blues defensive scrum, 5m from their own line
