Just shows how fast Barrett is to have caught Hogg
Great Test Match.
Hard luck Scotland, they showed great heart but just couldn’t press the advantage when NZ were down to 14 players for 20 minutes.
After seeing this match, it is hard to see why Scotland had so few players in the Touring Lions earlier this year.

Hi cane, so tough to get so close but not make it in the end, that is why your team is no 1.
Agree regarding the Lions, it would have been down to the Lions management team am sure if it came down to a choice between a Scottish and a Welsh player they would have gone with a Welsh player.
Interesting though quite a number of the team that did so well on Saturday would not have really been in the reckoning for Lions selection:
“Scotland played much of the last quarter of this Test with a fifth-choice loose-head, a third-choice hooker, a third-choice tight-head and an open-side in George Turner who’s not an open-side at all, but a hooker. ” to add the starting front row was not first choice.
Of those who played on Saturday think Hamish Watson, Jonny Gray, Finn Russell, Tommy Seymour, Stuart Hogg, Huw Jones could have been Lions. Seymour and Hogg were the only two initially selected, Russell was a late call up who barely played.
Others who would have been playing at time for selection like Tim Visser and Sean Maitland and Josh Strauss could think themselves unlucky at not being selected. Think WP Nel had been touted as a sure pick but then was injured for a long time so just went with Scotland on their tour, by the way think after being out for so long with a serious neck injury that Nel shouldn’t have gone on the tour but rather taken the time to get more rest and conditioned ahead of the new season. Greg Laidlaw may have been a good midweek utility option for Gatland especially as he was also Scotland captain and I think did a good job.
