9 Minutes to go… it’s all over, bar the shouting, for the Cheetahs!
Try Lions, Hacjivah Dayimani??
TMO
Pass way forward, no try!
6 Minutes to go, the deficit is 20 points
Cheetahs lineout, 2m inside the Lions half…
Try Kwagga Smith, Golden Lions… and that also brings up the bonus point for them for tries!
Golden Lions 37 / 10 FS Cheetahs
3 Minutes to go…
So, the Xerox Golden Lions will end in 3rd spot on the LOG and the Vodacom Blue Bulls will sneak into 4th spot…
That then completes the semi-final spots!
It will be:
Cell C Sharks vs Vodacom Blue Bulls
DHL Western Province vs Xerox Golden Lions
FS Cheetahs scrum penalty, right in front… they have no option but to try and go for a try…
Try Paul Schoeman, FS Cheetahs!
Golden Lions 37 / 17 FS Cheetahs
Time is now up on the clock, as the last restart kick is taken.
Cheetahs penalty, high tackle…
Still the game continues…
Robert Kruger intercepts and scores for the Golden Lions!
Xerox Golden Lions (13) 44 / 17 (10) Toyota Free State Cheetahs (Final Score)
By no means easy semi-finals coming up!!
With the Vodacom Blue Bulls finally starting to understand and play according to John Mitchell’s game plan, and to an extent starting to hit their straps, they are bound to give the Cell C Sharks a much harder time than it looked like they could, all season… even in Durban.
And then in the other semi, the Xerox Golden Lions might just be capable to overrun DHL Western Province… even at Newlands in Cape Town!
So, the 4 traditional BIG Unions are the semi-finalists!
But credit to the Toyota Free State Cheetahs for almost making the semis, despite the fact that for more than half of the regular Currie Cup season, they were fielding a 2nd or 3rd sting outfit due to the fact that their 1st team and backup players had to play in the Guinness PRO14.
