Canes penalty, deliberate knock-down ruled… and fairly so!
Great kick towards the corner… 5m lineout…
Canes almost score again, just, just tackled out!!
Jordie Barrett down injured!
Not looking good, Peyper was jinxed by the NZ press, he is trying his best to please them. But the Lions are buried early by n great effort from the Cannes
Lions taking a battering so far!!
Lions try to run the ball from far too close to their own line… Canes pounce on a loose ball… only to pass out to touch!
Jaco Kriel gets a talking to…. everybody harrassing the ref… apparently!
Forward pass by the Hurricanes, Lions scrum!
Lions scrum penalty, collapsing… and we have a few handbags thrown!
Try Ardie Savea, Canes… after a Ross Cronjé fumble!
Savea straight through!!
Lions 3 / 22 Hurricanes
Lions knock again… and the Canes counter… and make oodles of ground!!
22m Drop out by the Canes
Howzit GB. Lions getting a bit of a snottie sadly. I had not figured they’d be able to stay with the Canes. And they can’t/won’t. Ditto the Tests later in the year. We are simply not in the same league as the New Zealanders. Maybe in 3 to 4 years time we “might” be competitive. Whatever. It’ll be a while for sure.
44 @ Tassies:
Yeah, it certainly looks like the Canes clearly have the measure of the Lions!!
… and yes, the Bokke should be in the same position against the All Blacks!
It is way too easy, Lions will not keep ball in hand. If Cannes kick it down field they WILL receive the ball back with a poorer kick and Lions team standing around watching
Lions penalty… great touchfinder by Jantjies!
@ Tassies:
So true, we are in for the same
Remember we still have AC………………#@#%$$@
Almost a Lions try, Jantjies very close… held up.
Back they go for a Lions penalty, 10m out, collapsing the maul!
Big Lions maul again.. peanlty advantage….
Try Lions, the prop, Jacques van Rooyen!
Lions 10 / 22 Hurricanes
fluck me. Only the line to beat and miraculously the defense comes from nowhere to save the try. This bloody team is phenomenal. At last someone gets a 5 pointer. After all that effort. Well done Lions.

If the Lions can come back and win this game, SA Rugby will revive earlier. Fark its time to catch up
@ superBul:
Ja. You don’t have to be a rocket-scientist to see the chasmic difference between Canes, Chiefs, Saders and out top three SR teams. All three of theirs will beat our three 9 times out of 10 wherever they play. Does not translate well for the Boks. Their skills are simply at another level. Sad but true.
@ Tassies:
But things are looking better, we do use the ball better and pass better, but that ingrained thought of making the game save, playing territory is hard to throw out of our mindset
@ superBul:
and pigs can fly. Canes are simply a better team than the Lions. Full stop.
@ superBul:
and that territory obsesion we have let us think tries can only be scored from a certain range, NZ teams score tries from anywhere.
Still anybodies game.
Bounce of the ball went with The Canes in the 1st half.
Lions get late try to bring them back into contention. Helter skelter suits Canes. Lions have to stop errors.
Great to see a firm ground and players playing with the sunshine on their backs.
