Grayson Hart

Grayson Hart is set to become the second player to join Ealing Trailfinders from Glasgow Warriors this year when the international scrum-half signs on in time for pre-season.

Hart has won three caps for Scotland and follows the route paved by fly-half Rory Clegg who arrived from Glasgow Warriors in February.

“It is such an exciting time to be joining the Ealing Trailfinders as they are playing some excellent rugby and I want to help the club continue to grow.

“I want to contribute to the club on and off the field as best as I possibly can and keep developing as a player and a person.”

The 28-year-old Hart hails from Kaitaia in New Zealand and helped their U20 side win the 2008 U20 World Championship with a 38-3 win over England in the final.

However, he qualified to play for Scotland through his maternal grandmother and won his first cap away to Canada on Scotland’s 2016 summer tour. He then won a further two against Argentina and South Africa.

NPC and Super Rugby

Hart made his NPC debut for Auckland aged 19. He played Super Rugby for the Blues and Waratahs before he moved to Edinburgh in 2013. Following a two-season stay in the Scottish capital he played 24 times and scored five tries before moving on to Glasgow Warriors.

Since joining the Warriors he has played 32 times and scored one try.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have Grayson on board for next season,” Ealing Trailfinders Director of Rugby Ben Ward said. “He will bring a huge amount of experience and is used to playing on a 3G pitch with Glasgow.

“Grayson already has a good relationship with one of our half backs and that can help bed him in quickly. We spoke numerous times prior to him joining and it was clear that he still harbours huge ambitions within the game and that was really important from our point of view.

“He has a big battle on his hands with Luke Carter for the number nine shirt and I’m looking forward to seeing them work together and push each other and the team forward.”

Ealing presently sit third in the English Championship, one tier below the Aviva Premiership.

Pity he is going but wish Grayson all the best for the future. A shame he hasn’t been played much by Glasgow Warriors this season.

Grayson Hart was playing 7s for Scotland in Hong Kong this weekend. After a disappointing start losing all 3 pool games they did well to win the Challenge Trophy in the end beating Samoa, France and Kenya on the way. Grayson scored two tries in the tournament, 1 in the winning final.
