Goooooooooo Bokke!!
So what do you think about the inclusion of Oupa Mohoje at No 7, Johan Goosen at fullback and the out of form Damian de Allende at inside centre?
I would have started with Jaco Kriel EVERY day of the week over Oupa Mohoje… maybe Johan Goosen is not such a bad call, considering how bad Willie le Roux has been in recent months and hopefully French rugby has matured Johan Goosen quite a bit.
Damian de Allende… well I would not have picked him at present, he is stuggling with form, which has accentuated his propensity to bash it up crash-ball style and not distribute fluently or at all…. and he has been weak on defence for the Stormeers…
Who to have played in his place… well Juan de Jongh (even though he has played a lot of Sevens recently) or I would have picked Rohan Janse van Rensburg of the Emirates Lions who has had a stellar season at inside centre for the Lions, next to Mapoe and Elton Jantjies… but he is not even in the Bok squad.
GO BOKS!
Oh… and I would have much preferred Malcolm Marx as backup hooker in place of Bongi Mbonambi…
Many Lions players in my preferences this season, but for good reason… and to make it clear, the Lions are not my favourite team, as you all know I am a Bulls supporter, but one needs to be objective and pick a side on objective grounds and not according to your Franchise or Provincial flavour.
Los Pumas out on the field…
It rained in Nelspruit, so the pitch will be damp… but conditions have improved…
Time to start the serious drinking now.
Springboks out, led by Adriaan Strauss… and a Zulu warrior…
Anthems to follow
1st We’ll have a moment silence for former Minister of Sport, Stofile, who passed away in the week.
@ grootblousmile:
Hi Gbs Mohoje offers more bulk than Kriel which could be good initially especially at set piece time don’t want to give Argentina any unnecessary help come scrum time where his 10kg extra weight could help and then in the lineouts almost 10cm taller gives an additional jumping option. Especially considering the other two loose forwards starting. Kriel could possibly offer more energy coming off the bench. Hopefully both of them have big games regardless how long they get to play.
Argentina anthem….
@ grootblousmile:
I know there are more breakdown situations than set pieces so that is where Kriel could be better? However so often the breakdown is a lottery of referee interpretation anyway.
10 @ Bullscot:
Honestly Bully… Jaco Kriel is 10 times the player Mohoje purports to be… we have seen it in EVERY Super Rugby game this season.
Jaco Kriel is far more abrasive, has much more ball skills and positional awareness… and feeling for the real game.
Nkosi also done now…
Game ON!
Kick-Off by the Pumas!

May he rest in peace, didn’t know he had passed.
Bokke eager to run the ball… and Matera down injured, Bokke get the 1st scrum input, but deep in the Bokke half… on their own 22.
Reset scrum, front rows not still and going down…
Bokke scrum penalty… Beast doing well!
Good touchfinder by Elton Jantjies
Good Bokke pressure…
Bokke penalty, Argies playing offside at the ruck

Which is where he could be very valuable against a tiring Argentina defence later in the game…
Penalty was against Pablo Matera…
Jantjies for goal.
Missed to the right… not a good kick.
A Haka free match 😀
Tryyyyyyyyyyy Ruan Combrinck, Bokke!
Great backline running and great break by Jantjies!
GREAT TRY!
23 @ Bullscot:
One starts one’s best 15, Bully… simple as that!
Mohoje does not belong in the Springbok squad!
Springboks 7 / 0 Pumas
